It has been pointed out that my reference regarding the GIA workshop this week was unrepresentative, which is true: it was just one rather colourful comment. The workshop covered important issues like procurement and different routes to qualification, and more.

Excellent workshop last night on enabling talent and creating opportunities for architects. The RIAS is seen as "a useful set of bones wrapped in the flesh of a rotten corpse", and if it doesn't change, Glasgow may defect and declare UDI.

Although more than usual, it is rather disappointing to learn only 15% of RIAS members have voted..that means 85% apparently couldn't give a stuff...everyone, please ask your colleagues to seek out the email of 10th September and place their votes!

Just met Marc Cairns at "Many Studios" in Ross Street in the Barras...they have transformed a lot of flexible space there with glazing at the back of the pavement, easily accessible to everyone....the sort of space the RIAS should have?

Imperative that anyone who supports me votes, and also votes for Malcolm, Helen and the others supporting change. Very clear at yesterday's RIAS Council that there are a lot of folk there who don't want it. Look for email10th Sept from RIAS and vote!

RIAS Hustings in Glasgow last night attracted the biggest audience...although not by much! The Edinburgh one was videoed and is available via the RIAS, the Glasgow one was recorded on audio only, and will be transcribed and available through the GIA.

apologies my last tweet disappeared mid tweet: members of the RIAS are speaking at schools and helping with placements, so although the committee may not have met, stuff is happening: maybe more to be done with the colleges and courses?

Hustings in Dundee tomorrow, lecture theatre 1 in the University's Dalhousie building, 75 Old Hawkshill Road at 6.00pm. Both Gordon Smith and I will be there in person, so throwing rotten eggs and tomatoes will be effective...

Had a hustings in Aberdeen where I was a virtual presence via Facebook, as I had a previous unavoidable committment in Glasgow. Topics included RIAS involvement in education: apparently recently nil, which is a poor show, and must change!
