I'm not on Twitter very much anymore. If you'd like to stay in touch, I'd love to see you over on Substack, where I write about what it means to be a creative person in a capitalist society. https://t.co/N0l800kCqa
@airfrance I was charged twice for the same upgrade (first online, then at the airport service desk when the agent said the online charge didn't go through) and now, after waiting two months for a reply, was just denied a refund of the duplicate charge. How do I resolve this?
While Brendan Fraser is certainly talented, being "amazed" that he "manages to bring humanity" to a 600-pound character isn't actually praise for his acting, it's proof of the widespread dehumanization of fat people, especially super fat people. Fat-suit movies perpetuate that.
@thejumbles Two days before I was supposed to arrive in France for a teaching position, I bought a one-way ticket to Portland, OR because I had to see about a guy. I wound up marrying him.
@jamonholmgren I have, and it feels amazing! But what I often find more helpful is a to-don't-right-now list. That is, a list of things that can wait till tomorrow or next week, based on priorities.
@PatelcoPays Is your mobile app having technical issues? I've been trying to use mobile check deposit and keep getting a submission error. I triple-checked everything to confirm it's not user error.
If you woke up angry, a while back we put together a list of local organizations helping to stop gun violence. From addressing mental health issues, fighting for background checks to teaching guitar lessons, there’s good folks doing good things. https://t.co/pFf1haPvAH
“Spare me the bullshit of mental illness,” says Sen. Murphy of the United States. “We’re not an outlier on mental illness, we’re an outlier on firearms”
@mental_meanders@KelseyObGyn Understood. I appreciate that it wasn't your intent. However, no prevention method works 100 percent of the time, and you wouldn't be a hypocrite for catching an STI. As I said earlier, you'd be a normal human doing normal things.
@mental_meanders@KelseyObGyn Cool tattoos, but please don't contribute to STI stigma. Getting an STI isn't a moral failing, it's simply the result of normal people engaging in normal behaviors. You can do everything right and still get an STI.
We used to “correct” kids who were left-handed - through violence, shame or “guidance” on how to be right handed. And so there seemed to be very few left handers. Then we stopped, & with no shaming there was a seemingly rapid rise. Then a plateau. This is a tweet about trans kids
O best beloved, if you are doomscrolling Twitter today, ask yourself if there is anything you can personally do.
If there is, do it. If there isn’t, remember that anxiety is not activism. Your misery does not improve the world a single iota.
