Summer time is here! Great for us teachers! 😂.
When it comes to the football aspect, I use this time to meet individually with my Offensive players before we hit the summer.
I noticed a lot of coaches meet with their players at THE END OF THE YEAR. I do the same thing, but why not take stock of the spring and figure out what worked/ what didn’t with your players. Relationships are vital. So I do an end of the spring evaluation and meeting. Here is what I go over:
-player summation from their POV
-player summation from my POV
-goals for the summer. Now this one’s big. I love when kids say to coaches “my plan is to work harder. Give 💯. Be coachable.” What does that mean? That’s just sounds good. But what’s the plan? That’s where we as coaches come in. I give a detailed plan based on their 3-5 goals individually they can do outside of team workouts. An example would be:
WR wants to get stronger hands:
-catch 100 balls a day from QB, coaches juggs machine, trainer, parent etc.
-every catch needs to be away from the body and tuck as soon as ball is caught
-work grip strength in weight room with hand grips 2-3 sets, 10 reps.
-catch will head turned away and last second turn and catch 20 reps.
Now the accountability piece is there so if things don’t work out in the fall, we can pinpoint where the lack of accountability took place. If things do work out, now they can pinpoint where their career took off.
15 plans have been finished, now ready to finish the other 15 for my offensive players. Time consuming sure, but worth it if games are won and players achieve their goals.
P.S. I will be doing this with my QB trainees as well this upcoming week.

Florida school districts have officially run out of excuses.
The law is signed.
The funding mechanism exists.
And coaches can now legally be compensated through boosters without touching district budgets.
So if a district still chooses to block it, delay it, bury it in policy, or hide behind bureaucracy, understand something clearly:
That is no longer “following the rules.”
That is a choice.
A choice to ignore the people sacrificing nights, weekends, holidays, and time away from their own families to build opportunities for student athletes across this state.
You watched parents fill school board meetings over masks.
You watched communities organize when they felt ignored.
Now imagine what happens when coaches, parents, athletes, alumni, and entire communities realize districts are standing in the way of lawful compensation that costs the district NOTHING.
Florida coaches carried this profession on their backs for decades while districts benefited from the culture, success, and community they built.
Those days are over.
Every district is now on notice.
Missing key pieces. No excuses. Just next man up.
Proud of the way our guys competed tonight—especially a defense that wasn’t at full strength and still answered the call.
14-6. 24-6.
Two games. Two wins. 🔔

@Ihunanya_chi My sister I love your post. There’s only one thing that I would suggest. You’re save by grace. Please don’t put pressure on yourself to perform good works. That can lead to condemnation. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you. Yield to him every day. God Bless sis.

As the QBs prepare for the Spring season here in FLA, I have worked with some great kids who play the hardest position in all of sports through training, practice, or camps. Couple of things I tell my dudes who play for me before we hit it:
-You set the tempo. Everywhere you go, set the standard of how fast you want practice to be. Less yelling and more doing!
-Be the 1st to the field & be the last off the field.
-Focus on your team & not wonder what Team X or Player A is doing. They don’t effect you & you don’t effect them.
-Lift & train toward what YOU and YOUR team needs from you for the spring. Every system is different. For example, my QBs have the car keys to my system. But if the standard is not where it needs to be or I see it out of control, I will be the one who hits the E Brake.
-Remember, you are the extension of the coach. You represent us. You touch the ball every play.
-The spring game is the jumping off point. Not the end. Remember that. We will have a whole summer to get better.

I'm going to keep posting this Alstair Begg clip "The Man on the Middle Cross" (less than four minutes in length) every Holy Week, because its message is true in 2026, it will be true in 2036 and it will be true in 3036.
"If i take my eyes off the cross, I can then give only lip service to its efficacy while at the same time living as if my salvation depends upon me.
And as soon as you go there it will lead you either to abject despair or a horrible kind of arrogance.
And it is only the cross of Christ that deals both with the dreadful depths of despair and the pretentious arrogance of the pride of man that says you know, I can figure this out."
