@m_ninepoints Material Layers in Unreal really helped us with this. Our artists got it after I refactored a material into layers/blends and showed it to them. It doesn't solve everything but provides a structure that resolves some causes of graph spaghetti
@findmattcox Half-Life 2 and gmod were the catalysts for me. Started making maps in Hammer, tried to figure out what vvis was doing, took a giant leap to writing a hobby game engine in C#, and kept fallIng down the rabbit hole from there
@_benui Breakpoint in MarkPackageDirty, there's also a window somewhere that shows transaction (undo/redo) history which might be helpful. Never remember where it is, always have to go digging through menus to find it
