@andrewjfhoward@politico Are these the same democrats who have presided over the party’s terrible approval/favorability ratings, which are worse than Trump’s? The Dem establishment is as much responsible for the mess we’re in as anyone. No credibility.
@LizMair Establishment crowd telling you that the “extreme” candidate is too far in some direction, or done something terrible, only to have the moderate, establishment candidate lose the election to a far right maga guy who only has to promise change, is the story of the last 10 years.
@awstar11@EWErickson This may or may not be a reasonable thing to care about, but surely no one on the right outside the never-Trumpers can legitimately make a case against Platner on any moral grounds, given the last 10 years.
@emzanotti@EWErickson Another problem is that many of the people making your argument were fine with the “pussy grabber” guy holding the highest office in the country. Zero credibility… maybe take a pass on this one.
@PuckNews@PeterHamby@LACaldwellDC Listening to people like you has resulted in no power and a Dem favorability rating lower than Trump and the GOP. Take a break.
@PuckNews@PeterHamby@LACaldwellDC Same DC Dems that told us Hillary and (2024) Biden (or 2024 Harris) were the right choice? Same DC Dems that said Mamdani was a mistake? You people are responsible for a Dem party with lower approval than Trump and Republicans. No reason to listen to you.
@jonathanchait@davidsirota None of these people know who can/can’t win. They will lead you to the “safe” choice like Hillary Clinton, Kamala, Harris, Joe Biden… maybe you get lucky but often you lose. Obama is the only Dem bright spot this century, thanks to defeating the establishment in a primary.
@ChuckRossDC@EWErickson Piker clearly has a following. Like it or not, some people think like him. Ezra Klein will always be on the side of engaging and understanding him/them rather than try to block them out. Simple big tent politics. He does the same with the Rogan crowd.
@DastDn This argument is outdated. People have turned away from Israel because the right wing there (with no real left to speak of) destroyed the Gaza Strip, is slowly annexing the West Bank & southern Lebanon, and has killed 10s of thousand of people, including many children.
@JeffDenning@mattyglesias My take is that Democrats have been the party of policy wonks who are on the left end of the cultural spectrum. The party seems to have gotten less and less popular over this time, minus Obama himself. Hillary Clinton lost because Dems undervalue anti-establishment sentiment.
