Happy Juneteenth, y’all!
161 years ago today, freedom finally made its way to Texas.
As we celebrate the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of those who came before us, we are also reminded that the work is not done.
It is on all of us to continue the fight. As Texas' own Opal Lee said, “None of us are free until we are all free.”
@IGMansfield No, we'll look back on the moral hysteria about social media with the same disbelief that we look back on the moral panic about Elvis's dance moves.
Hasan Piker: “There’s this expectation that all of this system is so we can go out and dominate any enemy we see fit. I say no more. It’s taken your tax dollars and funneled it back to the military industrial complex where American hands are building munitions that Israel is using to blow up schools. Those hands could be building the fucking schools here. Those dollars could be building the fucking schools here. Why is it good? So that Lockheed Martin can come up with a new way of lasering children from satellites?”
Trump showed Iran one thing — their strategy works.
Iran shut down a huge chunk of the global economy, and Trump is now giving them everything they want.
Meanwhile US taxpayers spent billions bombing Iran, and might have to shell out billions more to rebuild it.
Hasan Piker: “Donald Trump literally made it illegal to be trans and an athlete in the NCAA. Did you experience any fucking material improvements in your life? No, of course you didn’t. Is that fixing the fucking gas prices? Giving Israel more money, is that going to fix your gas prices? We’ve been giving Israel $10B a fucking year. Have things gotten better in that process? Has ICE improved your lives? Elon Musk is a fucking trillionaire. Did it do anything for you that’s positive? No, of course not”
😳 Senator Jon Ossoff is clapping back at Donald Trump after the president attacked him on Truth Social, calling him a "failed Dumocrat" and referring to him as "Os(jerk!)off."

You guys argued that LGBTQ people shouldn't be allowed to appear in movies and TV shows, were against same sex marriage and organized boycotts of companies for giving benefits to same-sex partners of employees.
Mamdani: And when we win these elections.. let it be heard by every pundit who sees a Muslim last name and tells that candidate to prepare a concession speech. Let it ring in courtrooms that mistake the Voting Rights Act as a suggestion, not the law of the land.
The DOJ approved the Paramount-Warner Bros merger without even telling the department's lawyers who were ready to shut it down.
The next day David Ellison got dinner with Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.
This is more than media consolidation, it's oligarchy consolidation.
Some common-sense things Trump said today that were nevertheless shocking:
Everybody else has ballistic missiles, why can’t Iran?
The frozen money belonged to Iran, and the U.S. needed to release it otherwise nobody would trust the dollar system. Why should we steal their money?
Neighboring countries use nuclear power for electricity, why can’t Iran?
Israel shouldn’t knock down entire buildings in Beirut every time a drone or two crashes harmlessly in the desert.
Trump would’ve become Herbert Hoover in a few weeks once oil ran out and the market crashed. He had no choice but to end the war.
Michelle Obama: Not once did you melt from the heat. Not once did you let it harden you… the claims that a U.S. Senator and constitutional law expert wasn't qualified for the job. The lies about your birthright, your faith, your patriotism, the outrage when you stated the biological fact that if you'd had a son that he too would be black, yet you were unflappable at every turn, always focused.
Land bordering Yosemite, Sequoia, and Pinnacles National Parks — now cleared for oil rigs and fracking. YES fracking!
Two hundred thousand people said NO. The federal government did it anyway.
Over 1 million acres of California public land just got opened up - land that touches ancient sequoia groves older than the country itself and sits right in Yosemite’s backyard.
Patagonia's CEO came out swinging, accusing the administration of putting oil profits over the planet's health and saying public land was never meant to be sold off to drilling companies.
And the man who'll make the final call? He was recently confirmed to run BLM after his own state party called him "an outright enemy of public lands."
Who's going to tell a tree older than the country that its time is up?
