ICE lied to a Kansas mom tricking her into showing up for green card—it was a trap to detain her.
She was sent a letter of approval for a permanent residency interview—her husband became U.S. citizen in March.
"We were lied to, and our family has been torn apart," cried her daughter.
"My dad was asked to step out of the office where my mom was sitting. The second he did, she was detained by two immigration officers."
Rosmery Alvarado has lived in the U.S. for decades. When she was still a child, she failed to appear in court—but "we had all of our defenses, we had the evidence, we had everything, we were prepared," explained her daughter.
Every other member of her family is already a U.S. citizen. If her emergency stop deportation order is denied she will be deported within 3 days.
