Most Americans behave as it is all a joke...they are completely passive (and ignorant about the world). How did Russia and Turkey go from democracy (so, so...) in the early 2000s to totalitarian regimes today? The public let it happen. It started out with Putin and Erdogan's friends taking over private media and the government institutions were gradually taken apart while the public did nothing to stop i. It is now happening in the US. Just a lot faster. Americans you can still stop this, but it you have months - not years.

“🇬🇱 Let me state this calmly and clearly from the outset: there is neither reason for panic nor for concern.

The image shared by Katie Miller, depicting Greenland wrapped in an American flag, changes nothing whatsoever. Our country is not for sale, and our future is not decided by social media posts.

That said, the image is disrespectful.
Relations between nations and peoples are built on mutual respect and international law — not on symbolic gestures that disregard our status and our rights.

We are a democratic society with self-government, free elections, and strong institutions. Our position is firmly grounded in international law and in internationally recognized agreements. This is not in question.

Naalakkersuisut (Government of Greenland) continues its work calmly and responsibly. We engage in dialogue, safeguard our interests, and uphold the international rules that also bind our partners.

There is no reason for panic.

The single thing, however, that I am absolutely certain about is, is that this will be a further step in the radicalisation of Donald Trump. Trump does not pursue limited goals, he sees what he can get away with and then pushes it a step further. He knows now that he can invade foreign countries and kill or capture it's political leadership without even so much as attempting to manfucature a cause or trying to get consent from congress for it.
