@BellaRoscetti Back 40 years... May 1984 pay of £731 after tax inflates to £2628 plus free laundry and free room. BUT it was 4 months 1:2 and 2 months 1:1 with no leave allowed during the 6 month contract (extra money after finishing instead). Free time ~zero so disposable income/hr felt good

I finally made it into the daily mail for lecturing in a loud shirt (Orlebar Brown, bought in their sale last year), barefoot, while at a conference in Portugal, on my annual leave, at no cost to the NHS. CEPD for doctors is compulsory and the conference was organised long before the strikes, so not “convenient”.
