The 2024 #NobelPrize laureates in chemistry Demis Hassabis and John Jumper have successfully utilised artificial intelligence to predict the structure of almost all known proteins.
In 2020, Hassabis and Jumper presented an AI model called AlphaFold2. With its help, they have been able to predict the structure of virtually all the 200 million proteins that researchers have identified. Since their breakthrough, AlphaFold2 has been used by more than two million people from 190 countries. Among a myriad of scientific applications, researchers can now better understand antibiotic resistance and create images of enzymes that can decompose plastic.

The 2024 #NobelPrize laureates in physics used tools from physics to construct methods that helped lay the foundation for today’s powerful machine learning.
John Hopfield created a structure that can store and reconstruct information. Geoffrey Hinton invented a method that can independently discover properties in data and which has become important for the large artificial neural networks now in use.
Although computers cannot think, machines can now mimic functions such as memory and learning. This year’s physics laureates have helped make this possible. Using fundamental concepts and methods from physics, they have developed technologies that use structures in networks to process information.
1/17) We are thrilled to share our new paper published in @Jclinicalinvest (https://t.co/ciNwPjB8Lt) that investigates the effect of the metalloproteinase #ADAMTS12 on perivascular fibroblast activation in #fibrosis led by me and @Lars_K0ch
Large language AI models could make natural language again the universal interface of healthcare.

Excited to share our newest review on AI for digital pathology together with @robuelow which was published in @PflugersArchiv today! @LaBOORatory https://t.co/7FsagHVwjY
It took more than a DECADE... but finally it’s published!!! It started as a CRAZY idea but after tons of hard work we built it: We hijacked the endogenous secretion systems of Toxoplasma gondii, a brain parasite, to deliver active proteins to neurons 👇

This is terrifying.
Not the headline... I'm familiar with the science. No, what's terrifying is how far I had to dig through my news notifications to find this story.
What's terrifying is that this headline is not #trending on every social media platform.

An article published in #BMCBioInformatics presents tRigon: an R package that allows researchers without coding abilities to perform exploratory feature analyses of pathomics and non-pathomics datasets on their own using a variety of hardware.

Happy to announce tRigon (toolbox for integrative (path-)omics analysis)!🛠️ tRigon is an user-friendly R Shiny app enabling exploratory analysis of high-dimensional data including pathomics datasets. Check out the publication here: https://t.co/qdkz7G0OQP @LaBOORatory @robuelow
tRigon is freely available within the CRAN repository (with over 100k downloads already!) and also accessible through GitLab (https://t.co/luuuEN5dIo). Many thanks to @robuelow, @LaBOORatory, @vanvanka123 and all other amazing collaborators!
Diabetic nephropathy in another pT1b #kidneycancer pt. Occurs in 8% or 1 of every 12-13 nephrectomy specimen. Easy to miss at low power with H&E. That's why we order PAS in every case. Treat as critical value!
Tell urologist to send pt to #nephrology! #onconephrology#renalpath
