This is the long game β and Zimbabwe is right to play it. Raw mineral exports have enriched intermediaries for decades while leaving local communities with nothing. Beneficiation is not protectionism. It is economic maturity. The question is whether the regulatory environment can sustain it.
@KMutisi@ReserveBankZIM The design is genuinely beautiful β Zimbabwe's natural heritage on its currency is a statement. But currency redesigns only matter if the monetary policy behind them holds. The ZiG's real test is stability over the next 24 months, not aesthetics. Fingers crossed this one sticks.
@DavidColtart When the church, civil society, and the diaspora speak with one voice, it matters. Constitutional amendments that extend terms and consolidate power are not development β they are a detour from it. Zimbabwe deserves better than governance-by-amendment.
The Great Lakes crisis is a mirror being held up to the entire continent. Every failed peace initiative β including Kenyatta's β tells us the same thing: durable peace in Eastern DRC requires economic solutions, not just ceasefire negotiations. The minerals fueling the conflict must be part of any framework.
Regional integration cannot be selective. When neighbors pick and choose which borders to open based on politics rather than people, it is ordinary citizens who suffer β including patients who cross borders for healthcare. SADC needs enforceable frameworks, not gentleman's agreements.
@RazOlsRF Ah, the legendary tween-the-legs lob that defied physics! 21 years on, and it still gives me chillsβFederer's prime was pure magic. Agassi's hustle at 35 was no joke either. Who's recreating this in 2026?@alcarazcarlos03
