@TheSausageShed@HawkWing2002@horgawi Not true. There is no R4 (with Irish bookies) is a reserve doesn’t run, unless he has become an official runner and then doesn’t start.
@tajraasi I imagine there will be a stampede for him at this price. If he doesn’t cover the most mares for a first season stallion, I will be surprised.
@aobrienfansite She’s surely among the top half a dozen fillies trained by Aidan. A real good one who unfortunately didn’t run at 4 despite being kept in training
@theironhorse00 No of course not, as well as several other new races (most of which are far from grade 1 standard to boot). But it’s not called the breeder's cup for nothing- know your audience!
@10043535_@aobrienfansite I watched almost all of it on Sky/ATR which was the US TV feed. And with all due respects to ITV who I think are not as bad as they’re made out to be, it is in a different league in the US. Especially interesting to see how much more prominent the owners are in the interviews
@FanBerrties You should see him on Irish TV then, he’s positively loquacious. RTE also uses an outrider to interview jockeys post race - Katie Walsh, who is absolutely outstanding at doing it. Surprised it hasn’t been tried by ITV
@10043535_@aobrienfansite They do - but some count more than others. Nobody looks back on Man of Iron or Wrote winning with the same affection as High Chaparral or Johannesburg, so they? Today will be harder but the horses are running well so another winner is certainly possible
@10043535_@aobrienfansite With the honourable exception of Mendelssohn, who ironically was campaigned as a dirt horse, none of Aidan’s 3 previous winners of this race managed to win at 3
@10043535_@aobrienfansite Well none of Aidan’s winners of this race were top class. It’s not a race you send a top class juvenile to, you send a horse who will be suited by conditions and the track. Most American turf races are soft touches for better European horses - the main opposition is each other
