Yesterday Rock Hill Fire Department was honored to be designated as a Fire Safe SC Community for 2024! This recognition was received from South Carolina State Fire and Fire Safe SC in Myrtle Beach at the South Carolina State Firefighters' Association Fire-Rescue Conference.
Last week, 8 RHFD firefighters completed a demanding three-day Swift Water Rescue course on the Catawba River. This specialized training will help these crews to be ready to respond to water emergencies.
Final update: 12:55 PM, Tar truck has been moved from the roadway into a parking lot for further clean up. All lanes of Cherry Road are reopened to normal traffic patterns.
UPDATE: 10:50 AM, Both SB lanes on Cherry Rd are now closed. The NB lanes will now serve as two-way until further notice. Expect heavy traffic in the area and plan to find an alternate route.
Drivers should expect delays and avoid southbound Cherry Road for the next few hours. Crews are on scene standing by for cleanup of tar that was leaking from a truck across from Cherry Park.
Over the past 3 shifts fire crews have been completing annual tours of the Rock Hill water intake, water filter, and wastewater treatment facilities. These allow our crews to understand the working processes and pre plan for emergency response, if ever needed.
Earlier in the week our Station 5 was the last stop of day two for the @NEMSMBR@scemsmbr EMS Memorial Bike Ride. We were very honored to be a part of an event honoring our fellow EMS colleagues, especially this year Chelsea Jackson and Mathew Wycoff, who many of us worked with!

Wondering where all the smoke is coming from? The SC Forestry Commission currently has a controlled burn of 1,168 acres near the Chester County and Union County lines. Southwest York County will see heavy smoke in our area until this burn is complete. #YoCoN
