@TerryGlavin@andrew_wr Because we are still in a post-war delusion that we are some sort of underrated superpower and we “punch above our weight”. Then we get shocked when more powerful countries call our bluff and make us look like idiots. Gotta learn to act like the medium size country we really are.
@ChinaEmbOttawa First, learn how to communicate without threats and arrogance, you are a diplomatic mission for crying out loud!
Second, learn English, you come across as ignorant and dumb when you mutilate the language.
@macleans@TerryGlavin great article, I found it very informative. One observation: I was left with the question of how the identity of Quebecers weigh on the proportion of opinions you presented. Is the identity of white, French Catholics different that the rest of old Canadians?
@macleans Great article, it provides the context and nuance which allows a real conversation across the spectrum of subjects like this. If I may make an observation, I feel what wasn’t addressed in the article was the contribution of Quebec nationalism into the attitude towards immigration

Interesting how opinion pieces like this one pop up in the Globe & Mail right after a change of government in Alberta, and the new premier comes out swinging. Leverage is the best tool a province has to negotiate with the federal government, not goodwill. https://t.co/moHlQVYgjK
