The Dodgers have a lot of money and will always be in a strong position to bid for players. But they also have an excellent culture that players love -- it's a group that has a lot of fun together, and a lot of success -- and they have the Jackie Robinson history and resulting tradition no other franchise can match.
1993 World Series. Bottom of the 9th inning. The late Rickey Henderson’s leading off and calls for time on the first pitch from Mitch Williams, who fell off the mound trying to stop. Mitch was shook. He never recovered.
Eleven minutes later the Jays won their 2nd championship.
BREAKING: Superstar outfielder Juan Soto and the New York Mets are in agreement on a 15-year, $765 million contract, sources tell ESPN. It is the largest deal in professional sports history.
Without reading it, the likely answer is: they don’t have Vladdy or Bo locked up, farm system leaves much to be desired, and they’re coming off a losing season. Only positive would be the money they could offer him
the pre-pandemic 2019-20 regular season was magical. the post-championship glow. embiid 0 point game. 30-point comeback vs. dallas. 15-game win streak. serge-og scarves war. matt thomas propaganda. an all-time never underestimate the heart of a champion squad.
Money the only angle for the Jays here unless they have Vladdy and Bo locked up as a package to entice him. Hope I’m wrong but I don’t see the Jays having a chance in hell unless they extremely overpay against several very wealthy owners
Juan Soto decision coming soon.
Per: @BNightengale
“There really are only four teams that are seriously in play for Soto: The Mets, the Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox.”
Soto could make his decision before winter meetings.
Gradey, Mitchell, Agbaji, Mogbo, Shead, Battle….loving the development so far. Hoping the Raps lose enough to get a lottery pick but this is gonna be fun either way!
If you’re wondering what it’s like to live in Toronto…
This is my neighbourhood. We learned this week that the city is secretly planning to build an 80 bed men’s shelter in our community.

I am perfectly comfortable with the Raptors winning 1 game all season as long as every game is competitive. Need that lottery pick! This team is fun to watch though
The Leafs are seen with two options as Mitch Marner enters the final season of his contract: either find the money to extend him or treat him as a rental for one last playoff run, similar to how the Lightning handled Steven Stamkos before letting him walk in the offseason.
Toronto could take a page from the Lightning’s playbook, who planned to replace Stamkos’ contract with free-agent Jake Guentzel. The Leafs might follow suit with potential free agents like Mikko Rantanen, Sam Bennett, or Brad Marchand, if they’re still available come July 1.
