@jfnilsen This has far more to do with doctrinal expediency than any careful reflection upon Scripture. If you need to reflect upon the ‘wider’ context of verses on “do not greets”, you’re probably at heart a harsh person anyway. But loss of money might sway you to lighten up. Money talks.

Also, elders are to visit them to help bring them to repentance. A new pool of recruits during these days of declining attendance?
