GWOZA NIGHTFALL: The Operation That Brought Them Back 🇳🇬🔥

If you know Gwoza, you understand.

That place has seen things.
Not the kind you hear on the news… the kind the land itself remembers.

That was where this one happened. Hi
The intel came in just before dusk.

Six girls abducted by ISWAP fighters.
Held somewhere within the Gwoza axis.

Not far off, but far enough to disappear if we wasted time.

And it wasn’t just them.

Reports suggested more captives elderly men and farmers people taken from their homes, their farms, their normal lives.

We didn’t need motivation.
We just needed coordinates.

It was a joint operation.

Special Forces on ground.
Nigerian Air Force Panther unit overhead.

Everything had to align.

And leading us was Captain Kelechi Mbachu one of the finest officers I’ve ever served with. Calm under pressure, disciplined to the last detail, and fearless in a way that inspires confidence, not recklessness.

The kind of leader you follow without thinking twice.

We stepped off just after nightfall.

No noise. No unnecessary movement.

If you’ve operated in that terrain, you know it’s not just about the enemy. The land itself can betray you.

Every step mattered.

Above us, you could barely hear it but we knew the Panthers were there. Watching. Waiting. Covering.

As we closed in, signs started showing.

Foot tracks. Recently disturbed ground.
A faint smell of smoke carried by the wind.

We were close.

Too close to turn back.

Captain Mbachu raised his hand.

Everything froze.

Then he leaned in, voice low but steady:

This is it. Stay sharp. No mistakes.

We advanced.

And then… we saw them.

A concealed camp.
Armed ISWAP fighters relaxed, confident, unaware.

That was their mistake.

The signal came.

Gentlemen, Execute !!!

CONTACT.

The night exploded but not into confusion.

Into precision.

Our men moved like one body controlled, deliberate, effective.

The first few seconds decided everything.

ISWAP fighters tried to respond but we had already taken control of the fight.

Above, the Panthers locked down movement, denying them any chance of escape.

They were trapped.

Seventeen (17) of them didn’t make it out.
17 Dead !!!
But the real mission was just beginning.

Move! Locate the hostages!

We cleared the camp section by section.

Then we found them.

The girls.

Six of them.

Huddled together, terrified… but alive.

That moment hits differently.

One of them just stared, like she couldn’t process it. Another started crying immediately.

You don’t say much in moments like that.

You just let them know they’re safe now.
But we kept searching.

And that’s when we found more.

Elderly men weak, malnourished, barely able to stand.
Farmers taken from their fields, now prisoners in their own land.

We carried some of them out ourselves.

Nobody gets left behind.

By the time it was over:

14 people rescued in total.
6 young girls returned alive.
17 ISWAP fighters neutralized.
Zero casualties on our side.

Not a single soldier lost. Not one wounded.
As we prepared for extraction, I looked around.

The same Gwoza that had seen so much pain…
gave us a moment of victory.

Quiet. Real. Earned.

One of the rescued men held my hand and said,
“God bless you, my son.”

That one hit deep.

Because at the end of the day, beyond the uniforms, beyond the weapons…

This is what it’s about.

Going into places others fear…
and bringing people back from it.

That night in Gwoza, we didn’t just fight ISWAP.

We took something back.
