@JohnMu@googlesearchc encountered an issue with a client’s robots.txt file and could use your input. Despite not explicitly blocking the /uk/ folder, Googlebot is persistently reporting it as blocked

A client updated directory & got hit with a flood of indexed pages, which dipped the organic traffic. I deindexed the fluff – pagination and other redundant pages. Traffic rebounded, proving sometimes less really is more CC: @Marie_Haynes@lilyraynyc@rustybrick@glenngabe
It seems that the canonical tag bug had been resolved (can't see the increase yet, need to wait a few more days)

I had the same bug in July and since November 21 I see it again. The issue - some of the removed pages are the top organic pages, literally the "money pages" of my client. Anyone seeing it again?
Is anyone else seeing weird canonicalisation issues across Search Console? I have a couple of sites I am looking into. Seems.... strange, or a dial-up (all at Google's end).
Let me know.
A kind reminder that one of the hostages brutally kidnapped by Hamas-ISIS has given birth in captivity.
Another hostage was born.
Another #FridaysForFuture which we wait on all our loved ones to come back
@GretaThunberg as a humanitarian, please us the next #FridaysForFuture to call for the immediate release of all hostages - it's bot about picking sides, but about humanity
Tonight is the 4th night our babies will spend in Gaza.
We do not know if they were harmed, injured, or even if they are still alive.
This is the time to support Israel. Do everything you can to save our children, elders, men, and women from Hamas, a terrorist ISIS-like organization.
Don't look away.
Please share this.

#3/3 I sent them for quick indexation via GSC, but some of the pages returned after 2 weeks to be "Duplicate, Google chose different canonical than user ". That's a first for me to see pages that are being removed just like that. Is there anyway to report this?
@JohnMu #1/3 Some of the client's most important url's were removed from indexation. Now they appear under "Duplicate, Google chose different canonical than user". The two collections are completely different, in terms of products and content. CC: @Marie_Haynes@rustybrick
@JohnMu@Marie_Haynes@rustybrick #2/3 The content on both pages is visible to Googlebot (mobile and desktop), the pages are part of the site's hierarchy (and main menu). These pages have been indexed for years, and are the top converting organic pages . Now the organic traffic of these pages zeroed

Interesting - a client who had a major drop in December's spam update (unfortunately, he practiced a lot of link schemes), but saw a nice recovery after the last core update. In my experience, it doesn't happen often at all CC: @Marie_Haynes@rustybrick@glenngabe
