F.C. United of Manchester was founded in 2005 by Manchester United supporters who opposed the club’s commercialization, and it remains one of the strongest examples of the belief that football belongs to the supporters, not corporations.

The club is run under the principle of “One member, one vote.” Every member has an equal say, and no investor or shareholder can gain control over the club.

The terraces at Broadhurst Park have long been known for their antifascist, antiracist, and solidarity-based identity. Palestinian solidarity banners, support campaigns for refugees, and messages of social justice are an integral part of this culture. The club’s supporters have also continued to openly show their solidarity with the Palestinian people both in the stands and beyond.

Today, they may be competing in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, the seventh tier of English football. But F.C. United of Manchester’s greatest achievement lies not in trophies or league positions, but in proving that football can still be the voice of its supporters.
