@Dannythefink@MattChorley The National Anthem. Such a dreary tune. Replace it with Jerusalem which would still be appropriate when we become a republic.
@daniel_barnett As a HR consultant, I have quite often had the experience of my first contact with my clients’ staff being a meeting to dismiss them due to disciplinary reasons or redundancy. I can testify that the of responses of the staff in the film is very accurate. RP
@JulieL94505940 Julie, the rules on SMP and furlough pay are clear in the Government guidance. Search for Lewis Silkin furlough. Their FAQs for employers is very good and makes the rules clear. RP
@emt0964 It would depend on what was in your furlough agreement about returning to work. My work email address is [email protected]. Happy to respond to a message with more details about this. Roger
@JulieL94505940 Julie, as an HR practitioner, I rarely see anyone take notice of the 56 day rule. As Martin said, in the case quoted it would amount to discrimination. Any reasonable employer would accept shorter notice. In fact a good employer would spot this in advance and contact the employee
@MartinSLewis All other employment law continues to operate as normal, eg redundancy consultation, notice requirements etc. Therefore requiring staff to take leave continues as normal. RP
@MartinSLewis Employers must pay the contractual hourly rate for holiday unless they have written agreement to pay another rate. This is in government guidance. Instructing employees to take leave is under section 15 of the WTR (EU law). No suggestion that WTR has been amended in any way.
@MartinSLewis Also the lady on maternity leave should, assuming she had her baby more than two weeks’ ago, end her maternity leave and ask her employer to furlough her on or before 10 June so that she can remain on furlough after 1 July.
@EmploymentLS@HMRCcustomers Does that also mean that someone who was furloughed in (say) April and May but back at work in June, could be refurloughed in July? Thanks. Roger
@bbclaurak Laura, can you ask the gov what they will do to counter chronic shortage of food in London supermarkets? We couldn’t get in 7 or 14 days supply as the shelves are empty.
Nigel Farage didn't campaign for No Deal during the 2016 referendum. Now his Brexit Party are trying to convince the British people otherwise.
Don't let them get away with it. Demand a #PeoplesVote on #Brexit.
