It is a 60 tonne paradox: a machine forged with the brute strength of a hammer, but calibrated with the digital soul of a surgeon. This tank is a victim of its own brilliance, it was so over engineered for India's extreme climate that it became a legend in the lab before it became a legend on the field.

While most tanks are just heavy steel, the Arjun is a master of thermodynamic compensation. When we fire a tank shell, the friction generates immense heat. If we are in the 50 degrees C Rajasthan desert, the sun heats the top of the barrel while the bottom stays slightly cooler. This temperature gradient causes the steel to expand unevenly, making the barrel bow/droop by a fraction of a mm.

At a distance of 3 KMs, a 1mm droop at the muzzle means our shell will miss the target by several meters. Indian engineers developed an Automatic Muzzle Reference System (MRS). It uses a tiny mirror at the end of the barrel & a laser at the base.

The laser talks to the mirror 1000s of times/sec. If the mirror shifts even a few microns due to heat/droop, the tank's computer automatically adjusts the aim before the gunner even pulls the trigger. The gunner thinks they have a steady hand, but they are actually being assisted by a lightning-fast calculus of thermal expansion.

If we watch a video of an Arjun tank, it looks like it is floating over bumps. This is the Hydro-pneumatic suspension, a feature so complex that only a handful of nations (like France with the Leclerc) have mastered it. Most tanks use Torsion Bars (basically giant metal springs). In the extreme cold of Ladakh (-40 degrees C), steel becomes brittle & can snap. In the heat of the desert, it loses its spring.

Indian scientists replaced metal springs with a Gas & Oil system. Nitrogen gas acts as the spring, & oil acts as the damper. Because gas & oil properties change with temperature, they developed a Self-Leveling valve. It does not matter if it is freezing/boiling; the tank’s computer adjusts the fluid pressure to keep the ride perfectly level. It is essentially a Rolls-Royce suspension on a vehicle designed to take a direct hit from an anti-tank missile.

The armor of the Arjun tank, known as Kanchan, is 1 of the most closely guarded secrets in Indian military history. It was developed by Dr. Baldev Raj & the team at the DMRL. It is a Composite Sandwich. They used layers of specialized Ceramics (similar to what is used in space shuttles) fused b/w steel plates. During testing, the Arjun was fired upon by the most powerful anti-tank shells in the Indian inventory (including the dreaded Sabot rounds). The armor was never breached.

The most unsung heroes are the software engineers at DRDO who wrote the Integrated Fire Control System. To hit a moving target while the tank itself is moving at 70 km/h over rough terrain, we have to calculate: Wind speed, Air density (altitude), Barrel temperature, Vehicle tilt, Target velocity. The Indian system was 1 of the 1st in the world to achieve a 1st Round Hit Probability of 90+% in both desert & high-altitude conditions.

His name is Bant Singh.

He is a farmer and folk singer from Jhabhar village in Mansa district, Punjab. He had been singing since he was ten years old.

In 2000 his daughter was studying in Class 9 when three men gang raped her. The panchayat told him to settle it quietly. He was offered ten lakh rupees and three acres of land to drop the case.

He refused. He filed a police complaint. He went to court. In 2004 all three men were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.

The village did not forgive him.

On January 5 2006 he was cycling home through wheat fields after campaigning for a labour rally. Seven men ambushed him with iron rods and axes. He lost both arms and his left leg.

He was moved from Mansa to Patiala to PGI Chandigarh where doctors operated for hours to save his life.

When he regained consciousness he asked for his harmonium.

He said they cut my arms thinking they would silence me. They were wrong.

All seven attackers were eventually convicted. He kept performing at rallies. He kept singing.

He still sings today.

One thing that Indians do not appreciate enough about themselves is that millions and millions of people who came to India after losing everything during partition managed to rebuild their lives almost entirely in 70 odd years.

Hundreds and Thousands of Bengalis, Sindhis, Punjabis and other communities migrated into India without nothing on their except the clothes they wore. Yet, in matter of decades, they managed to build their lives anew entirely.

In many cases, they may not have recovered their lost wealth entirely. But at least, they educated their children, their children secured good enough jobs or stable businesses, and there's genuine hope for the future.

We could have easily been basket cases like Pakistan or Bangladesh. But we are the fastest growing economy and things are only going to get better from here. This speaks of the strength of character of our peoples. We should be proud of that.

The year was 1734.
The place was Lahore.

A 10-year-old Hindu boy named Haqiqat Rai was studying in a madrasa like any other day, learning Persian alongside other students. With Basant Panchami approaching, a discussion began in class about the festival. During that exchange, a few Muslim boys allegedly spoke disrespectfully about Goddess Saraswati, and the rest of the class remained silent in support.

Haqiqat Rai could not tolerate the insult.
Though he stood completely alone, he openly protested against the entire class.

As the argument escalated, Haqiqat Rai and the other boys were taken before the madrasa’s maulvi. There, the Muslim students falsely accused him of insulting Bibi Fatima. Since no one was willing to speak in his defense, the maulvi treated the accusation as a grave offense and decided to punish the child without properly investigating the truth.

The complaint was then taken to the qazi, who declared it an insult to Islam and sentenced the young boy to public execution. His family pleaded for mercy before Zakariya Khan, the governor of Lahore at the time, but he also upheld the sentence without examining the facts. The execution was deliberately fixed for the day of Basant Panchami.

Before his execution, the child was given one final choice:
accept Islam, and his life would be spared.

But Haqiqat Rai refused.

On the day when much of the land was celebrating the festival of Saraswati, the 10-year-old boy bowed his head before the executioner and embraced death rather than abandon his faith.

According to tradition, even his mother urged him in his final moments to accept conversion so he could live. But Haqiqat Rai is said to have smiled and willingly placed his neck before the sword.

Until the Partition of India, every Basant Panchami, both Hindus and Muslims in Lahore would gather at his memorial in remembrance.

It is because of children of such courage that Sanatan Dharma survived even its darkest centuries with its head held high.

- Niger, one of the poorest countries on Earth, has been supplying cheap uranium to power France's nuclear plants (which generate 70% of their electricity) for decades through French giant Orano. Locals live in poverty and radiation while Paris glows. After the 2023 coup, Niger kicked France out and the mask slipped completely.

- French multinationals still dominate oil, gold, timber, and minerals across Gabon, Mali, Congo, and beyond, extracting billions while leaving environmental destruction and poverty behind.

Other Europeans are in on it too:

Belgian and European firms pillage the Democratic Republic of Congo's cobalt and coltan (the blood minerals in your phone), UK companies ignore oil spills in Nigeria, and EU industrial fishing fleets have wiped out West African fish stocks, destroying local fishermen's livelihoods so Europeans can eat cheap seafood.

They lecture the world about "sustainability" and "fair trade" while sucking Africa dry, Neo-colonial thieves...

And if this Iranian regime keeps existing, I hope, I pray from the bottom of my heart, that they export their terrorism and extremism to Europe a thousand times harder.

Let Paris, London, Brussels, and Stockholm feel the fire they helped fan everywhere else.
