@StatsSAC This (fatigue of throwing consecutive days) and potential injury show why, I think, that they need another top shelf type guy at the deadline.
@realPParsons He’s not super toolsy anymore. Harris is now more physically talented. He’s a below average OF with a great arm. He’s not elite fast but he’s a smart base runner. His greatest asset is his batting eye & bat speed. His ceiling is .280 avg,30/30 player. Still great but not best.
@jgd0634 It’s interesting watching Magic and Bird in interviews from 80 to 83ish. They both talk about the Sixers as being their main rival. Stern and company certainly came in and were able to navigate a different narrative but by 85/86 they were the top 2 players on the 2 best teams.
@blitzen_mc@Super70sSports Terrible take. Dr J’s window was from 77-83. They lost in 3 finals from 77-82. Moses came in 83, they won 65 games and the Championship. But they both started slipping after while Lakers & Celtics were peaking. If Moses had come sooner it would have been a different outcome.
@Tom_Gray_Boxing 💯. #3 for me and wouldn’t argue if you said #2. 2 guys who didn’t want to lose. My Top 10:
1 Ali/Frazier 3
2 Ali/Frazier 1
3 Holmes/Norton
4 Bowe/Holyfield 1
5 Ali/Foreman
6 Dempsey/Firpo
7 Douglas/Tyson
8 Louis/Conn 1
9 Lewis/V Klitschko
10 Marciano/Walcott 1
@AlBernstein@combatsporrt Pep should probably be #1. And Jimmy Young was really good too. Maybe not Top 5 ever P4P but he was as good as a defensive HW as I’ve ever seen.
@erecasner@30for30 Phi Slamma Jamma. They had 2 players who, respectfully, were better than anyone on the Fab 5. Granted the FF had 3 NBA All Stars, but I think PSJ wins a seven game series in 6, maybe 5.
@jgd0634@CLNS_Nick To your point:
Connie Hawkins was to Dr J what David Thompson was to Jordan, his basketball hero.
Also, in his own all time starting 5, Dr J has Elgin Baylor over himself.
@Roger774501171 Apologies to Hank Aaron, Eddie Matthews, and Warren Spahn who I never saw play. And Chipper, Freddie, and Acuna.
