Glad to finally see our #meditation #EMA study out in @PNECJournal.
Huge thanks to @VeronikaEngert @larapuhlmann et al. for the collective effort!

How does #meditation (for up to 9 months) impact healthy individuals' daily lives?

Revisiting the stress recovery hypothesis: We ask whether stress recovery, rather than stress reactivity, relates to indicators of allostatic states in healthy adults. First paper by the amazing Magdalena Degering #stress https://t.co/XlRs2j3H29

[Veronika Engert @VeronikaEngert]

We show that socio-affective mental training reduces the cortisol awakening response, an indicator of anticipatory stress immediately after wake-up. Thank you @katja_hoehne #Mindfulness #Stressreduction https://t.co/Z13WEnqhYj

Do we need more #OpenScience in biological Psychology and PNE? The answer will… *not* surprise you!
But our reasons - many of them ‘selfish’ - may convince you :)

Great teamwork that I am proud to have been a part of 🙌

There certainly seem to be enough stressful situations that we could study in the world, rather than in a lab. Here's how that could help us get to the bottom of what stress really is, by @adreisoerner https://t.co/vSbW4tPy3z

[Roman Linz @romanlinz]

@adreisoerner @PNECJournal @VeronikaEngert @larapuhlmann Thanks so much, Aljoscha! Glad to hear people also read the stuff :)

[Roman Linz @romanlinz]

general take home:
- #meditation effects may take time
- more well-powered, ecologically valid #EMA studies are needed to evaluate effects of meditation in daily life (and potentially to avoid inflated expectations)

[Roman Linz @romanlinz]

In addition to unchanged levels of stress, training did not alter affective states, which together suggest very limited effects of sustained training on these rather typical measures of well-being - at least in healthy subjects.

Science Communication to me, means taking science to places you wouldn't expect & exploring its boundaries. I have organised @MPI_CBS researchers @larapuhlmann
@RenzoTorrecuso to speak at Mjut club, Leipzig this Friday! Tickets in this link https://t.co/Hpv6kldhRe
