In the next few weeks we'll be kicking off work on new Laravel starter kits. Here's what I'm thinking...

I don't think the starter kits should be packages. Instead, I think they should just be GitHub repositories you clone. All of the code lives in your application, no "install" commands or copying files around. Just clone a starter kit and start building. 🔨

Think something like "laravel/simple-starter-kit" and "laravel/saas-starter-kit"... and maybe more in the future? "laravel/api-starter-kit"... "laravel/ai-starter-kit"? Easy to inspect what is included, easy to accept community contributions. 👍

Thinking the simple starter kit would be the equivalent of today's Laravel Breeze. Basic registration, authentication, password reset, profile management.

The SaaS starter kit would include all of that, teams, Stripe Checkout integration with Cashier, and more. 💰

Both totally free and open source. Livewire and Inertia 2.0 flavors. Tailwind 4. Maybe something like @shadcn for the Inertia variant?

Here are 6 reasons why your Laravel codebase is a pain to work with:

1. Incomplete migrations, no factories, and no seeders. You shouldn't have to rely on production data. Laravel's documentation on these matters is super simple to understand, so go for it!

2. No automatic code formatting. Just like your home, it feels much better when things look organized. Laravel Pint is there to help and is incredibly easy to use.

3. No documentation of business-specific stuff. How do you want to maximize ROI when new hires can't figure anything out?

4. Too many inconsistencies in the way code is written. Follow Laravel's guidelines and don't use dozens of design patterns just for the sake of it. Describe your approach in the documentation.

5. Not enough comments. But wait, I'm not talking about this kind of comment:

I'm talking about this:

// This is a workaround because we have a problem we still can't figure out.

THAT is helpful. 👌

6. No tests. This one should be first. Invest 1 hour of your time to learn testing, and your web developer life will suddenly become easier.

The way Israel is destroying Gaza is beyond imagination and yet people are turning blind eyes – I truly don't understand this human behavior.

Buildings after buildings are being destroyed, thousands of people are dead, thousands are wounded, and hundreds of thousands are homeless. International media is covering everything in detail yet the spokesperson from the Isarel is denying and diverting questions thrown to them.

Forget the governments – regular people are supporting war crimes just for the sake of their ethnicity! Israel has been systematically oppressing the Palestinian people for decades, and when they fight back, it's a crime.

I am seriously disturbed – unable to do any meaningful work. Every time I sit and try to do something, flashes of the images seen on the news cloud my mind.

Some of the people from my followers have shown their hatred on why I am sharing these and not Laravel tips – well, that's because I am human first. Just unfollow and/or block me if these news/thoughts disturb you.
