We are a nation at war. Our POTUS almost killed twice. Charlie Kirk murdered. Hundreds of violent attacks beginning in 2015 - random Trump voters targeted. The seriousness of this moment is still not understood. People live in glibness.
@BradEBonham Doesn't surprise at all.
At caucus night I brought up repealing Prop 4 and both the Chair and the State Rep said they thought it was only fair for the Dems to get a seat. I was dumbfounded.
Utahns are too nice and are compromising the state away one fair deal at a time.
We have two Utah Supreme Court retention votes coming up this year.
Some of my time and money will be going toward educating people that their votes should say “no” when asked if we should retain them.
Pass this along. The education process begins now.
@BradEBonham Heading to my first caucus in West Jordan tomorrow night...excited to learn the ins and outs and get more involved at the grassroots level!
Quick reality check on that Mendenhall donation: In the 2023 Salt Lake City mayoral race (nonpartisan), Erin Mendenhall was running for reelection against former Mayor Rocky Anderson (the radical leftist firebrand who's long been one of the most extreme, combative progressives out there, downright evil in his attacks on conservative values) and one minor candidate. No Republican was on the ballot.
Brad Bonham has major businesses right in SLC. When there's zero GOP option in a local race that directly impacts your operations, city policies, taxes, etc., smart business owners support the candidate they think will be least harmful or most pragmatic for their employees, customers, and bottom line. That's exactly what he did here with a modest donation.
Brad is conservative to the core. Look at his donation history: 99%+ goes to Republicans, including big support for GOP candidates, the party, and conservative causes over the years.
Look at the work he did to get signatures to overturn Prop 4 and restore legislative control over redistricting! One local pragmatic move doesn't erase that record.
The real story? This kind of cherry-picking fuels the infighting tearing the Utah GOP apart right now. While we're busy attacking our own, Dems are happily filling in the cracks and gaining ground where they shouldn't.
I've met Brad personally and been to some of his functions. He can stick up for himself just fine, but from everything I've seen, your comments are ill-founded
@Manhattva Pure common sense, looking at human nature, incentives, and what actually works, tends to pull people conservative over time. Life experience just makes the patterns harder to ignore. Reality does have a well-known conservative bias.
@BradEBonham Dems love filing these doomed bills just to farm a few fundraising emails from coastal donors. It’s not about representing actual Utahns it’s just theater for clicks and checks.
"Disagree Better" too often means conservatives are expected to concede and play nice, but the second we ask the left to give an inch, we're suddenly the bad guys.
Look at Congress: Dems almost never break ranks and vote the party line. Republicans cross the aisle constantly—on spending, debt ceilings, you name it. It's one-sided: they demand we compromise while refusing to do the same.
Utah pushing this while targeting critics just proves it's not about better disagreement—it's about us losing more politely.
@barstoolsports Didn't LeBron miss 14 games of the regular season with a "nerve irritation in his butt"?
Meanwhile Lindsey Vonn’s out here bombing downhill on a freshly torn ACL. #LEGEND
