Fitness Influencer Responds to Allegations of Animal Abuse

We have fitness influencer Michael Gerchy, known online as "Get After It Fitness." Initially, a video on his social media showed him abusing two dogs. After removing it, he posted another, claiming he wanted to show the challenges with his dogs. He says one dog repeatedly attacks the other and insists he was protecting them. Now, another video is up, and tonight he claims he did nothing wrong—he says he was saving a life, not being cruel.

The river claimed him on the 14th.

It happened in seconds.
A boat overturned.
The water swallowed people whole.

Screams ripped across the river.
Children disappeared beneath the surface.
Strong men fought the current—and lost.

But one man didn’t hesitate.

Joe Blankson ran straight into the water.

No life jacket.
No rescue crew.
No spotlight.

Just a man who heard people screaming… and refused to stand by.

He grabbed the first person he could reach and dragged them to shore.

Then he turned around.

Again.

And again.

The current grew stronger.
The water colder.
His body more exhausted.

But somewhere out there, someone else was still fighting to stay alive.

So Joe went back.

Thirteen times he beat the river.

Thirteen people were pulled from the water because he would not quit.

Thirteen families were spared the knock on the door that shatters a life forever.

On St. Patrick's Day 2023, in Boston's Downtown Crossing neighborhood, Irish-born Barry Whelan, who moved to Boston in 2002, was blindside sucker-punched by a 6'5” Nigerian named Sanusi Sadiq. Whelan fell to the pavement, smashing his skull and causing a brain hemorrhage. He died.

Despite the attack being on video (unreleased to the public), Sanusi Sadiq was never arrested or taken into custody. He was simply summoned to court.

The case finally wrapped up this week, after a mistrial a year ago, and Sadiq was found guilty of manslaughter. Massachusetts' maximum sentence for manslaughter is twenty years.

Sadiq was sentenced to three to six years, and, with good behavior incentives, could be out in as little as a year and eight months.

A year and eight months.

Just like any White guy would be if he blindside sucker-punched a Black guy and killed him, right?

Just like there'd be zero national news coverage of a White guy sucker-punch killing a Black guy, right?

Just like the entire political class would remain silent if a White guy sucker-punch killed a Black guy on MLK day, right?

Just like...

You get it. You know. Everybody knows. If this thing was the other way around, it would be a “hate crime,” murder, a life sentence, and an international outrage where the entire world would extol the victim and “say his name.”

Alas, it's just another daily Black-on-White death in America, so it's quietly swept under the rug. Just try not to notice the Denali of death under that rug as the bodies continue stacking up every single day.
