Fun Pack REALLY making dreams come true. Thanks Dinosaur Dracula! The Transformers stickers would have been enough, but a regular sized MoTU figure? Hats off.
@yuggs513 I’m lucky to have gotten in right at the tail end of it. Late 80s though the mid 90s was a hell of a ride. Then a few years later to see Jr. come home to Cincinnati only to be a shell of his former glory. That was the start of whatever current nightmare weee currently in.
Very long rant, sorry, again.
The son of the owner, CEO, and president of the Reds stood in front of Reds fans piss drunk on Opening Day 2022 just weeks after selling off the best players on a team that just missed the playoffs and said “Well, where ya gonna go?” In response to a prominent Cincinnati radio host (@MoEgger) asking him why Reds fans should have faith in this ownership group. Seriously, that’s not made up. That happened. On opening day, in front of 100s of thousands of people, live on Cincinnati’s #1 radio station, he said that and felt zero shame. He later appeared on a local news channel after the game (looking absolutely buckled) and doubled down on the quote.
Our president of baseball operations got up in front of everyone and said their goal is to “eliminate PEAKS and valleys.” That’s real! He said that!
What they are doing is intentional. Winning 78-84 games is intentional. So intentional they have mastered how to do it. They have mastered how to hang around in the hunt, never truly in it to be buyers. Never truly out of it to be sellers. Just in it enough to where no national attention or scrutiny will ever come of it.
So this is me begging the national media. A father of 2. Im pleading at 10:40 on a Tuesday. When you talk about the worst front offices and ownership groups in baseball, please please please acknowledge the Cincinnati Reds in the conversation. In fact, please lead with them.
I’m 30 years old (almost), I have 2 kids. I have never seen the Reds advance in the playoffs. I have never seen the Reds win a home playoff game. They have made the playoffs 5 times (im counting game 163 in ‘99 and whatever 2020 was) in my life and have played 12 playoff games. They have been shutout in 5 of them.
This is a bottom 5 organization in all of American sports. Please talk about them in that fashion. I’m begging.

I love it when I see a Steelbook case art that *fully* understands what the movie actually is, and not just a random grab bag of images from the movie. A+
@CardChronicle Louisvilles “rival” is SMU? The ACC couldn’t have at least paired Louisville with an old ex conference mates, which if you combined them all it’s like MOST of the league? This is especially odd considering Louisville has played SMU for one season in the AAC and one in the ACC???
Please pardon the long-ish Tweet! I typically hate these... but I hate the 10 Tweet thread even more, if I'm being frank.
So, I truly appreciate people listening to Sacred Symbols and mining it for news. Really, I think that's awesome. An enormous number of industry people are loyal listeners and viewers of the show and tell us things all the time, and sometimes (with their blessing), we relay that info to you. It's all meant for public consumption! We are a show for all comers.
But it's important that we are quoted accurately and in context. I'm noticing this issue more and more, not only with my own scoops, but with lots of other people in the space, too. (I want to stress that this outlet I'm using as an example is certainly not the only culprit, so I don't mean to only pick on them.)
During an hour-long discussion about Marathon on Sacred Symbols Episode 360, I said, verbatim: "I was told by someone familiar with marketing plans in a key overseas market that there are now no plans to do paid marketing for Marathon at all. I don't know if those plans were affected by what has recently happened or if that was always the plan or whatever, but it is considered a fairly unusual move for a game of this high profile."
Me talking about immediately-known plans in a single territory doesn't equate to "Sony has cancelled all its paid marketing plans for Marathon." Maybe they have, I have no idea. It actually wouldn't surprise me; the game is clearly in enormous peril and should be delayed. But that's not what I said, and it's not what I reported. There's a big difference. I just personally don't think it's too much to ask that when one uses our content, what was actually said is relayed -- quote, spirit, context -- and nothing more.
Thank you for reading, and for your support, as always! See you on Sacred. <3 -Colin
