Formal methods don't make sense for most coding tasks, but it's interesting to see AI lower the barrier for high consequence systems. I wonder what other use cases will start leveraging them. Kudos to Jane Street for sharing the work.

Started building a new feature at https://t.co/iDaRuLmERt that has to integrate in a complex system that I haven’t touched in a while. This really got me thinking about how we make sense of code bases in the era of coding agents.
You just need to take a good look at all the older people who didn't get to live the life they wanted, and it will become obvious that the causes are always the same, generation after generation:

While this is an extreme view, I believe it is valuable to challenge our standard view of work. This starts being brutally honest about our goals, defining what is enough, preventing unchecked growth, limiting mindless consumption, and playing the long-term game.
Without asking these basic questions, many people accept misery in their careers, resorting to coping strategies to tolerate a stable job with certain discomforts. They bury themselves with responsibilities to have money to pay for therapy, time off, and healing retreats.
