Building Puchi, the budgeting app for couples. Solo on iOS. Just submitted to the App Store. Sharing paywalls, numbers and what breaks. Webflow agency by day.
just submitted my first iOS app to the App Store
Puchi started as an idea to help couples manage money without turning one person into the household CFO
months of designing, rebuilding, breaking things and wondering if I’d ever reach this screen
I know submitting is only the beginning
but this feels fucking good
now entering the “refresh App Store Connect every 3 minutes” phase
@KieranCrown@RevenueCat the tell is always the haptics and the sheet behaviour, not the visuals. if the swipe back and the pull to refresh feel right nobody checks what it's built in. a gmail client that respects privacy is a brave 27 day project though, good luck with the oauth review
@jorgiabays@Shipaton@RevenueCat@v_computer you're the 5th person this week with the eula/terms link one. it's officially the most common way to lose 3 days. did they want it on the paywall screen itself or just in the metadata? seems to differ per reviewer
@pcshipp there's a secret fifth one for me: the first 100 users need to convince a second person to install it. i've got 40 on testflight and maybe 15 real pairs. the other 25 are people whose partner said "i'll do it later"
@DevAfter5 agency days are like this for me. some evenings the most i can do is fix one bug in puchi and close the laptop, and honestly that still counts. the days you don't want to see a screen are the days the last 4 features were built
@joshpuckett had this exact feeling today. a guy i met on here three days ago through a rejection thread got his app onto sunday club this morning and i was weirdly more excited than when my own stuff works
@thisiskp_ the small version of this is a claude.md file and it already saves me 20 minutes a session on puchi. the bit i don't get with a shared company graph is who decides what's true when two people's context disagree, that's the fight in every agency i've worked at
@NaguBuilds 18 on v1?? ok that's a different level of ambition. is that because the app is inherently global or did you see something in the data that made it worth it
@bdefig@aryanlabde honestly a supabase query and a spreadsheet right now. revenuecat for the subscription side once it's live. the thing i actually care about for a couples app is "did the second person also come back in week 2" and no tool gives me that out of the box. what are you building
@kushmergedeck 400 consultants and a deal a month is a real business. what does a deal look like size wise, is it one big contract or a bunch of small ones
claude down, codex down, grok down, all in the same hour
i was halfway through writing the notes apple asked for on my rejection and now i'm doing it in a plain text file like an animal
turns out i can still write a sentence without help. just slower and with more typos. wild that this feels like a discovery
@RevenueCat someone this morning told me the asc payout number is an estimate until it lands and is usually about 100 off. does early payouts go off the estimate or the real one? asking for a future version of me with actual revenue
@marclou the outage hit the exact hour i was going to fix apple's rejection notes. so i'm writing the app review description by hand like it's 2022. character building apparently
@Sabrina_Ramonov the browser bit is the one thing that would make me switch too. half of shipping an ios app is clicking through app store connect, not writing swift, and claude code can't see that screen. does codex actually drive asc for you or is it still copy paste from a screenshot
@matankatzzzz most asked question on testflight. two people is hard enough to get right, i want that nailed first. kids can't add expenses anyway, they just cause them
@naivebara one triangle and a fragment shader, ok that's way cheaper than i assumed. we have a drawer of old test phones at the studio, i'll throw it on a samsung a-something and send you numbers
@dev_aniketmalik the launch window being one shot is the part that scares me. i named mine puchi which is a brand name not a keyword, so i'm already losing that autocomplete week. is the subtitle enough to make up for it or did i blow it at the naming stage
