Did you know that Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, and other actors have expressed support for releasing Marwan Barghouti, the convicted terrorist responsible for attacks that killed, among others, a Greek Orthodox priest in Jerusalem and four other people?
The reason? Moral selective outrage based on ignorance and virtue signaling.
They support the release of a convicted mass murderer because they believe it is the “right thing to do.”
Why? Because they apparently believe they understand the politics, dynamics, and conflicts of the Middle East well enough to make that judgment from the comfort of Hollywood.
Are they prepared to take responsibility for the bloodshed that could follow? For the next victims in a conflict they do not actually understand, and that does not neatly fit the simplistic Western Marxist frameworks of “oppressor” and “oppressed” that are so often imposed on it?
And since when did being a celebrity can qualify someone as an authority on the history and politics of a conflict in which other human beings have to live with the consequences? We have seen what happened during previous periods when Barghouti was free and directing violence.
Apparently, they care neither about Palestinians nor Israelis. For some Hollywood celebrities, all of us can apparently be sacrificed on the altar of moral purity and virtue signaling.
Will they say anything about the world’s largest displacement crises and the hundreds of thousands killed in Sudan? What about the violence in Congo? What about the persecution of Christians by Islamist extremists in Nigeria?
Probably not.
It doesn't generate enough likes.
And that tells you everything you need to know about these hollow Hollywood moralists.

¡Colombia e Israel, siempre amigos y aliados! 🇨🇴🇮🇱
¡Firme por la Patria!

The deal being floated with Iran seems straight out of the Wendy Sherman-Robert Malley-Ben Rhodes playbook: Pay the IRGC to build a WMD program and terrorize the world.
Not remotely America First. It’s straightforward: Open the damned strait. Deny Iran access to money. Take out enough Iranian capability so it cannot threaten our allies in the region.
Overdue. Let’s go.
If a deal is struck to end the Iranian conflict because it is believed that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be protected from Iranian terrorism and Iran still possesses the capability to destroy major Gulf oil infrastructure, then Iran will be perceived as being a dominate force requiring a diplomatic solution.
This combination of Iran being perceived as having the ability to terrorize the Strait in perpetuity and the ability the inflict massive damage to Gulf oil infrastructure is a major shift of the balance of power in the region and over time will be a nightmare for Israel.
Also, it makes one wonder why the war started to begin with if these perceptions are accurate. I personally am a skeptic of the idea that Iran cannot be denied the ability to terrorize the Strait and the region cannot protect itself against Iranian military capability.
It is important we get this right.
.@zarahsultana I assume this is a different Zarah Sultana MP to the one who was recently filmed clapping along to loudspeaker chants for intifada, on a street in Surrey.

You’re a joke, Bennett. Stoke division then call for unity. Stand for everything and stand for nothing. Your unity, of course, evolves around you becoming PM at any price. That’s not unity. That’s opportunism and demagoguery.
