The term “hidden gem” is probably over-used. But it applies perfectly to Pine Hills in Sheboygan, Wi.

Smead isn’t a known name, but it’s clear he had some great inspiration. The green complexes are fantastic, lots of internal contour and great individual hole identity.

The land is incredible, it moves up and down constantly. Thankfully bulldozers didn’t exist to flatten out any of the heaves that add so much character. The fairways are wide and fair, the trees are only in play when far off target.

Pine Hills is truly a great golf club. Can’t help but think that if it had a “name” architect it would be talked about far more.

Certainly one of the top 3 private courses in Wisconsin, I’ll let you guys argue about the order they should be in. 😂
