@jorie_graham Fragility and humility. I like the ring of those two words. As I read this piece I could hear the narrator’s voice in PBS’ Frontline. The drama. Thanks for this Jorie.
"One of the indigestible facts of this country is that a good deal of its terrorism and nearly all its mass shootings are committed by mostly conservative-leaning white men." https://t.co/8wAE3xWt4X
@NB_Chris I remember Budd’s dreamy collaboration with Eno. Wonderful. Also reminded of the trumpeter Jon Hassell’s mesmerizing , hypnotic album w Eno, Fourth World Vol 1 Possible Musics. His eerie processed horn.
I just subscribed to Field Notes https://t.co/41cyYMvTuE I have followed your urban habitat notes for a while Chris. Your sharp eye breathes life into these out of the way places. Somewhere between Ballard and Barry Lopez lies you.
@ZeitgeistFilm One of the reckonings we never confronted with a “holiday”is 600,000 deaths in our own war. VO day. Ourselves. But we have reenactors. Rather than reenacting why not try noh plays. Where characters represent the essence of this story. Read Lewis Hyde’s A Primer for Forgetting.
The Bog of the Coffee
Like everything else
it grows, it blooms,
it settles and become a pit.
I drink the dying darkness
and it inhabits me.
Maybe future folks will
look upon this oldtimey thing
as ritual, like the things
we held and set on fire,
breathed deeply and exhaled.
