Surely in a grab for a fat packet of Russian cash, The Economist hits a new low, beginning a new campaign to whitewash a murderous and SANCTIONED pro-war Russian oligarch, with aim of promoting the Kremlin's new narrative of pushing the west to save Putin from Ukraine.

In only 3 days time, fluff pieces in print, video and social media featuring oligarch Andrey Melnichenko, who owns billions across multiple industries in Russia and never had any problem with the war.

Fuck the Economist.

Putin is waging war against mothers and their children. The Russian army cannot win on the battlefield. The Russians are not strong, they are cruel. That is why they launch daily attacks on the civilian population, trying to break Ukrainians' resistance.

You can see a woman shielding a small child with her own body, trying to save the child's life. An aerial bomb struck near a public transit stop in Sumy. Yesterday, at least five people were killed, including a child, and another 30 were injured. Hospitals and schools, residential buildings and supermarkets, train stations, and other crowded places have long been targets for the Russians.

It is important to understand: the Russians continue manufacturing missiles and shells, and recruiting contract soldiers, because they still have the money to do so. By official figures alone, 40 percent of the Russian budget goes toward the war.

What needs to be done? Stop doing business with Russia and paying taxes into its budget. Refuse to buy Russian goods. Seize Russian ships transporting oil and gas in circumvention of sanctions. Hold foreign companies accountable for helping Russia evade sanctions.

Strike at the Russian economy's ability to finance this bloody war.

Richard Gere: To have any kind of legitimacy, you have to rewrite history. Putin clearly is doing that, saying "There never was a Ukraine, there never was a Ukrainian language, there never was a Ukrainian culture. It's completely made up." Well, it's false.

Exactly what Chinese have done with Tibet, they said, "There never was a Tibet, there never was a Tibetan language, there never was a Tibetan culture." I mean, you have to destroy history to create legitimacy.

Кремль, розуміючи всю патовість власного становища, активізував своїх «опозиціонерів». Інтерв'ю Яшина, стаття Андрія Мельниченка для The Economist і подібне — це скоординовані дії, спрямовані виключно на те, щоб переконати Європу і весь західний світ: поразка Росії небезпечна.

Основний аргумент — гра на головному страху Заходу. Мовляв, коли Росія програє, вона розвалиться на десятки республік на чолі з бандформуваннями, у яких буде доступ до ядерної зброї. А головний меседж — це буквальний заклик тиснути не на агресора, а на жертву: «Треба давити на Україну, щоб вона припинила бити по Росії і сіла за стіл переговорів».

І найбільша проблема в усьому цьому — зачарованість Росією західних ЗМІ. Через довірливість, підкуп чи просто некомпетентність багато великих медіа транслюють російського мільярдера Мельниченка та російських «опозиціонерів» так, ніби ті справді протистоять Кремлю.

А варто лише трохи підключити логіку — і все стає на місця. Захід сам заявив, що Росія тоталітарна країна. Захід давно поставив знак рівності між Путіним і Кім Чен Ином. То чому раптом вважається, що в такій системі може народитися і вільно діяти справжня опозиція?

На цьому тлі неймовірно дивно виглядають фігури на кшталт Яшина чи Кара-Мурзи. Люди, які виступали проти Кремля, спокійно посиділи в російській «зоні», без ознак тортур і навіть не схуднувши, а потім були вигідно обміняні й дбайливо доправлені на Захід — просувати ті самі путінські наративи, тільки вже з європейських трибун. Але тепер у Росії все настільки погано, що доводиться вскривати всі «консерви» й задіювати «опозиціонерів» у скоординованій інформаційній спецоперації. Бо всі в Кремлі розуміють: якщо терміново не припинити війну, імперія впаде.

Висновок простий. Немає ніякої «хорошої Росії». Є єдина імперська машина, яка в моменти слабкості просто змінює інструмент: не вдалося залякати ракетами — спробуємо залякати «розпадом» і «ядерним хаосом» вустами системних «опозиціонерів».
