A life update:
I’m happy to announce that I’m starting my Ph.D. from @harvard@hgse. Alhamdolillah!
This couldn’t have been possible without the support and efforts of many many people, as they say “it takes a village….”.
@RanaSikandarH@punjab_hed@Harvard Thank you so much, Sir! Really appreciate the warm hospitality. I also want to acknowledge the incredible work you’re doing for education in Punjab. As an education policy researcher, I look forward to studying and understanding the reach and impact of these efforts.

Honored to host Roohullah Gulzari at @punjab_hed. From a public school in Quetta to UET Lahore and then @Harvard, his journey shows how education can truly transform lives & communities. Proud of you!
Happy Hazara Culture Day! The Hazara community's rich traditions and unique lifestyle are a beautiful blend of Central Asian and local cultures. Their contributions to Balochistan and Pakistan's development are invaluable. Let's celebrate their heritage and promote their distinct identity. 🇵🇰
This picture of @MJibranNasir is a decade old. This was Dec 2013, and I was asked to put an event together at LUMS. Jibran had ran for elections for the first time, and Pak facebook users got to see his campaign closely. This was a period when terrorism and target killings in Karachi was a norm, and here was this guy who was openly helping minority communities, calling out banned outfits, and pro bono provide legal support. His name came to my mind, because it was our intention to show what a Young, non-dynastic politician in Urban local politics could look like. He flew in, and probably was the first of many visits to Lahore since then.
Vote for him if your views align with his platform. He’s running for elections again, and keeping up with what he stood for more than a decade ago.

South Africa's decision to send a second-string team to New Zealand totally makes sense. Any country, outside of the Big three, who is not prioritizing T20 cricket is shooting itself in the foot.
South Africa was criticized last year too when they cancelled an ODI series in Australia and risked their direct WC qualification for SA20. In hindsight, it turned out to be a great move. SA20 last season was a big success, is reviving cricket in South Africa and extremely important for the financial health of players and cricket in general.
Test cricket has become a luxury which only the rich boards can afford. There is every possibility that in the coming decades it will be confined to Australia, England, and India only.
It has a niche audience due to which it is becoming very hard to sell. Australia and England can afford it due to the value of their TV rights and gate-money, India make so much money from IPL that they can subsidize Test cricket without worrying about the revenues. For every other board, it’s a loss-making business (especially if it does not involve a tour by the Big Three).
James Anderson became a Test specialist because he could still make close to a million US dollars/year from ECB contract and match fees. A non-Big3 team can never afford to pay that much to its Test players.
Players outside of the Big Three don’t want to play Tests either. If you hear something different, it’s just a lip-service to Test cricket. Every budding cricketer is aiming for contracts in the T20 leagues. And any current non-Big3 player who considers himself a Test specialist is because he does not have the skill to excel in the short formats.
It’s unrealistic to think that teams like Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka etc will be able to compete with Australia, England and India in Test cricket in the coming decades. ODIs future is bleak too. So, the only format where they can compete is T20s so it should take priority.
Change is the only constant in life and importance of cricket is moving towards shorter versions. The sooner you realize T20 will be the pinnacle, the better it will be.
It's shocking and upsetting to see that people are being stopped from cheering "Pakistan Zindabad" at the game.
This totally goes against what the sport is about!

Barbie’s opening weekend was $337M. That’s nearly 2x Oppenheimer’s $174M.
Warner Brother's insane ”Operation Barbie Summer” is a big part of that success.

Frantz Fanon died in 1961, aged 36.
The same week, The Wretched of the Earth was published. And on the very same day, the book was confiscated and banned in France.
This film is based on that book. 📕
Absolutely love the tradition! This is how my Nanai Jan (mum) shows her affection and love when we travel home - with Haar e Paisa wala.

I fell off my chair when I just learnt this today. During the pandemic, @imran_nisar wondered if you could tell about the virus spread from sewerage sample testing like we do for polio. This is Dr Imran presenting his work at AKU. Story time...

Please don't self-select out! Long list of papers & "elite" schools aren't required. I'll read every application looking for potential. Please repost.
I wish I had more time to write about it but for now this should suffice. Evidence from unrestricted voucher program in Chile, the largest voucher program intervention in the world. The result is: No significant improvement in educational outcomes including years of schooling.
Rather than provincial governments spending around Rs 1000 bn on school education, enrolling only a quarter of our kids, and failing the average child in both math & science, I suggest we give the same amount (Rs 3000) per child per month to the family to educate their own kids.
