@JobeLokishi@Dlamaqhinga Yes i understand your point. but sanral is commercialized.its profit is used for road construction, maintenance, debt servicing and future infrastructure obligations, same goes for eskom, profit made is used R&D,Capex and future projects etc. This translate to less bailouts&loans
@Darkiemantsu@NsomotoNso@Dlamaqhinga Its government company but its must make profit to be able fund its operations, salaries, R&D, future projects and other expenses. Eskom must make profit simular other SOEs and even by international standards, SOE must make profit. No gov is gonna fund unprofit company forever.
@EasyBidde@Goitsy_1@Dlamaqhinga SOE make profits then fund operating expenses, R&D and future project project.
Tax fund government expenses and its objectives.
@serene_yemanja@NkululekoMhlaba@MbuyiseniNdlozi Bailout are not meant to repaid. Government is sole shareholder. Bailout is just an equity. Eskom that makes profit is good for taxpayers and they dont have to bail it anymore.
@melomagolego@Askash Discovery’s building cost around R3bn back in 2018. Adjusted for inflation, that’s already around R4bn+ today. Parliament is a far more specialised, fire-damaged heritage complex requiring major reconstruction— R4.6bn isn’t automatically an outrageous figure.context matters
