The Old English word for “alive” was cwic, pronounced almost exactly like “quick”, which is the word’s descendant in Modern English (from the sense of being active).
That’s why you often hear the fossilized expression “the quick and the dead”.
There are other trees in London, but this one is the most important.
Every year since WWII it is donated by Norway to UK in thanks for the help that the UK gave Norway in WWII and every year it is decorated the same way and unveiled the same way by every Mayor of London since.
@BegoniaGrl .people still have some immunity
.treatment protocols are better so fewer, even severe, die & survivors recover faster so take up less time in hospital beds
.lots of most vulnerable already dead - covid has killed millions
.some of most vulnerable are still taking precautions
@DrPlantel It also makes it harder to expose the handful of drs who do go into medicine for bad reasons. There will be some - & drs often dismiss that with 'well there's bad apples in every walk of life' - yes, of course but that doesn't mean each profession shldnt be dealing with their own
@DrPlantel It's harmful to respond defensively to critique of drs bc it undermines an objective look at harmful behaviours, both individual & systemic, that drs do engage in - worse, it further embeds a willingness to ignore pts feedback framing them as just innately disgruntled & unfair
@Jennife10651535 I swapped to uber eats & deliveroo as the supermarkets direct dont do bags anymore. All the supermarkets are available on deliveroo etc..in the last couple of years. If you use services like deliveroo you get it all delivered in strong brown paper bags from the same supermarkets
Depressing reading the news this morning if you're a fairly immobile old person. Ocado are being attacked for using plastic bags for home delivery. It's literally the only way I can cope with unpacking the shopping 1)
@Savaoraidh_ @Tany4Peace Leiths is very well recognised in the industry. It's like an English Le Cordon Bleu in terms of prestige. The online courses are excellent and you can do them at your own pace but for the full professional qualification need to do a couple of days at the end in person for exams.
@thefempire50@Navi10021981@ThePOTSPostman It's probably not that for you as you sound very hydrated & are constantly thirsty, but might still be worth checking your heart isn't going too fast, if you haven't already. And maybe my post will be useful for ppl on this thread who do have pots.
@thefempire50@Navi10021981@ThePOTSPostman Covid triggered POTs in me. I've noticed that my body has learnt that I cope better when fully hydrated & makes me crave water, especially if I've been standing up a bit longer than I can manage. Bit like I realised I'd crave orange juice when my vit C was lower.
