The US Embassy is organizing a coup against Honduras, says the country’s President Xiomara Castro. She stated in an emergency press conference: “The plan to destroy my democratic, socialist government and the next electoral process is underway.”

Yesterday, Honduras’s Foreign Ministry denounced US pressure over its support for Venezuelan President Maduro.

Following that, a video from 2013 was published by local media allegedly showing a known drug trafficker meeting with the brother of Xiomara Castro’s husband 11 years ago. The government denies that there are any links or financing between the persons in the video and the governing party.

The government of Honduras sees this series of incidents as preparation for an attempted coup against the government.
