For about a year I've been making various election maps but have only published them on my own Google site. However, I think it's finally time I shared them more broadly. As such, starting today I'll be posting some of my maps, with my full set here: https://t.co/VYvhyiwpLA
Goddammit every American should be up in arms about this shit. This is not a right or left issue. We do not have to show our papers at the demand of any LEO. This is a very slippery slope to a bad place.
this time by 115 votes. As a result, when Congress convened on Jan. 6th, 1961 to certify the electoral votes, the slate pledged to Kennedy was the one accepted. As of the 2024 election, this remains the closest presidential election in Hawaiian history. (4/4)
Before the 2000 election in Florida, the most notable example of a recount in a presidential election was Hawaii's first time voting in 1960. That year saw a close race between JFK and Nixon nationally, and Hawaii was no different. Unlike the national election, however, (1/4)
when the electoral college met to vote (although Hawaii's 3 votes were not decisive, as Kennedy had already won by then), resulting in two competing slates of electors voting. Shortly before the start of the new year, a completed recount showed Kennedy carried the state, (3/4)
This has been a confusing one to me too.
From what I’ve seen some on the left genuinely think Larkin is more electable because he supports generally popular policies like Medicare For All and/or being more lefty makes him more electable in a cycle like this.
But most of what I’ve seen is a bit more nihilist — along the lines of “neither can win so let’s humiliate Moskowitz, who is a ghoul about Israel, and notch another democratic socialist primary win. And Dems don’t need this seat to win a majority anyway, so fuck that guy.”
It’s crazy to think a Democrat can’t win a Trump +9 district in this national environment, even in Florida. And while Dems should take back the House with the generic ballot like this, being that overconfident 2.5 months is extremely dangerous thinking.
The newly drawn district is one of the most Jewish and likely one of the most pro-Israel districts in the country. Moskowitz being a pro-Israel hardliner is not out of touch with his district.
While Moskowitz is easily one of my least favorite members of the House Dem caucus, IMO it’s pretty clear that he’s the only one who can potentially hold the seat.
Nebraska Public Media: Brett Lindstrom fails to qualify for the ballot in Nebraska governor's race
An independent candidate for governor failed to collect enough signatures to appear on the general election ballot.
The Nebraska Secretary of State’s office announced Friday that Brett Lindstrom’s campaign submitted 5,765 signatures. Of those, 3,358 were validated.

Many insurgent progressive candidates don't like to run TV ads for some reason, but Francesca Hong's flop is another strike for the "ground game > TV ads" theory.
(Notable that Zohran started surging in the primary when he got on TV!)
Honestly I’d take Hong losing and Flanagan winning than the vice versa now that I think about it - Crowley is milquetoast but would get a decent amount done with a trifecta, while Craig would be a thorn in the side of any future Dem trifecta
@JeremiahDJohns Maybe this is just me, but I don't think being opposed to data centers because they will increase my state's electric bills by 25% in four years is a bad argument

Short version: Using AI makes you dumber.
This is why I just won't use it. I'll dig through archives, I'll stress over how to word a paragraph.
I will give my brain a workout and grow smarter/wiser because of it.
Any liberal who would support Francesca Hong over Tom Tiffany is a cucked moron who needs to reevaluate their priorities
Hong supports the total abolition of all law enforcement. Point me to a single position Tom Tiffany has that is as dangerous to society as that. I'll wait.
