As we concluded the 2nd @EA_Bunge Women's Intergenerational Dialogue in Arusha organised by the women caucus,
2 days of women leaders & young voices aligning on STEM, AI, digital leadership & finance.
The message was clear: Women must lead East Africa’s digital future.
Today, as we commemorate the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, there is a special resonance in the air. This year, the global spotlight is firmly on Kenya as we host the world under the theme Rangelands: Recognize, Respect, Restore.
I held high level discussions with the UNCCD Executive Secretary,Ms. Yasmine Fouad. In our engagement , we reached a clear and powerful consensus: Kenya is ready to lead. My Ministry is not merely planning, we have established robust mechanisms, advanced early warning systems, and strategic roadmaps to confront this challenge head-on.
As Chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change, H.E. President William Ruto stands ready to champion this cause globally. This leadership is already evident through the ambitious 15 billion tree growing initiative, which we are implementing across Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. By focusing restoration efforts where they are most needed, we are turning policy into tangible, ground-level resilience.
Our message is clear, Africa must move forward with one voice. We can no longer address drought in isolation. With strong governance mechanisms in place, Kenya is not only managing its own challenges but offering a model for the continent.
Drought is not inevitable, it is a challenge we are fully equipped to overcome together, as we secure the future of Africa.

Kenya and Sierra Leone maintain strong and close ties anchored on mutual respect, pan-Africanism and regional stability. Our two governments will continue working together to advance our mutual interests and the African agenda.
This includes championing reform of the international financial architecture, global governance especially at the United Nations Security Council, and climate action. The summit provides a suitable forum for the exchange of ideas and views on these issues.
Also informed President Bio of Kenya's candidature for the position of judge of the International Criminal Court. Requested him to favourably consider supporting our candidate, Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung'u.
Kenya is honored to host this important meeting of the Congo Basin Climate Commission (CBCC) Focal Points and Finance Experts here in Nairobi. I welcomed delegates from across our continent in the true spirit of Harambee ,reminding us all that the Congo Basin remains a cornerstone of global ecological stability. This gathering marks a pivotal moment for Africa. Through the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin (F2BC), we are redefining our role from passive recipients of aid to active drivers of our own economic sovereignty.
