I’m a book editor who loves helping authors bring their stories to life. I focus on clarity, flow, structure, and readability while making sure your voice still
@GirlsandGoblins Honestly, consistency counts for so much. You do not have to be the fastest writer to make progress, and the fact that you keep going despite setbacks says a lot. What are you working on at the moment?
@austinwyckes_ That sounds like a solid goal! Getting your second draft finished and preparing your manuscript for querying by February is a big step. Are you planning to work with beta readers or get some feedback on the manuscript before you start querying?
@MollyLooby Three days to get everything together? That sounds like a race against time! At least your two protagonists are taking shape. Sometimes the side characters have a way of surprising you once the story gets moving. What kind of story are you planning to write for November?
@m1m0z I understand that feeling. Sharing something you have put your heart into can be scary, especially when you are not sure how the feedback will feel. A good beta reader should help you see what is working as well as what could be stronger, without making you feel discouraged.
@Zomqieslyr Honestly, that is what fresh eyes are for! Sometimes we read our own work so many times that we stop noticing the little things. I would love to help as a beta reader and give you honest feedback on your plot, characters, pacing, and anything that might need a second look.
@Deuronius I understand why you might feel hesitant about a traditional publisher. Have you started exploring your options, or are you still weighing what would work best for you?
@MollyLooby Sometimes a deadline is just the push we need, but do not be too hard on yourself if it takes a little longer! What kind of edits are you working through right now?
@demimschwartz You have got this, Demi! A big developmental edit can feel overwhelming at first, but it is also a chance to make the story even stronger. I would love to hear more about your gothic thriller. What part of the revision are you most nervous about?
@jessipop2k I offer beta reading and developmental editing, so if you ever want an extra perspective on the structure, characters, or pacing, I would be happy to help.
OR what do you think Jess
@jessipop2k I can understand that. Having lots of good material but struggling to bring it all together can be frustrating. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can help you see how the pieces might fit without losing what makes the story special.
@AlissaLindemann Chaotic or not, 30k words into draft four is real progress! Sometimes the writing process does not have to be perfect as long as the story keeps moving forward. Do you find each draft changes the story a lot, or are you mostly refining what is already there?
@nicolemonsees17 But adding those 500 words is still progress! Are you struggling to decide how the story should end, or is it more about not wanting to leave the characters behind?
@nicolemonsees17 I think endings can be difficult because, after spending so much time with your characters, saying goodbye to them is not always easy.
