Are these La Liga teams stupid or just fearless? Barcelona have a scary attack with Yamal, Adeyemi and Raphinha, pace, skill and players who can take anyone on, yet teams still play a high line against them. Shouldn’t every Laliga team be parking the bus at this point? 😂😂😂
lol whenever I see some babes in the comment section of average Nigerians, I laugh. You see them saying they can’t settle for less, madam over 130 million Nigerians are in poverty, you are also part of the less.
You are correct, the current President is the first proper politician in Aso rock, and Nigerians should know that Jonathan was given power, Tinubu took it.
GEJ lacked the courage to execute it as well as the political currency to manage the fall out. If you have noticed anything in this administration, it is the fact that they know how to cleanup when they mess up politically. None of their political decisions has bitten them, not even once.
Once again, this is the first time we are having a proper politician in Aso Rock, it has always been a Former strongman in the Army or someone hugely supported by a godfather. The Man in Aso Rock is a Civilian and a godfather to himself. That’s why there has been so much politicking and I tweeted about this years ago. I am not surprised with many of the things I am seeing.
🚨🚨| BREAKING: A plot to 𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄 Lionel Messi during the World Cup has been revealed. 😱🇦🇷
A US police report has revealed that Lionel Messi was the player who received the 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐒 during the 2026 World Cup, including an alleged threat of a suicide attack.
Before Argentina’s group-stage match against Jordan, a man reportedly called Dallas airport and threatened to enter the stadium with two others carrying weapons and homemade explosives, specifically mentioning Messi as a target.
Similar threats were made before Argentina’s Round of 16 match against Egypt. Police also received a separate bomb threat claiming explosives had been placed inside stadium bins. Authorities searched the stadium with explosive-detection dogs and found no bombs, confirming it was a false alarm.

FIFA reportedly offered every member association up to $40 million to vote yes, and $10 million if they voted no. Today, all 55 European nations chose zero.
This afternoon, on an emergency call, every UEFA member approved a boycott of FIFA competitions, men’s and women’s, until the FIFA Forward Enterprise plan dies.
Now run the numbers on what each side is holding.
FIFA’s position: a $20 billion valuation on the new entity, a $4.2 billion raise this year through J.P. Morgan, Thrive as proposed lead investor, and a September 19 vote it needs 106 of 211 members to win. UEFA and Concacaf, which says it was never even informed of the plan, control 96 votes between them. The math was already tight. It just got worse.
UEFA’s position: the product itself. Europe has produced six of the last eight World Cup winners. Spain just won the 2026 tournament, and three of the four semifinalists were European. A World Cup without Spain, France, England and Germany is not a diminished World Cup. It is a different, much cheaper product, and every investor being asked to value this thing at $20 billion knows it.
And the 2030 World Cup is co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Two of the three host nations just voted to boycott the tournament they are hosting. There is no version of that event that survives its own hosts refusing to show up.
Here is why the threat is credible, and why Infantino knows it. In 2021 he proposed a World Cup every two years. UEFA threatened a boycott. FIFA abandoned the plan. This is the second time in five years Europe has pointed the same weapon at the same man, and the first time, it worked without a shot.
So look at what the $40 million offer actually was. FIFA cannot win this vote on the merits against the confederations that produce the product, so it priced the vote instead, aiming the money at the 150 plus smaller associations for whom $40 million is transformative and a European boycott is someone else’s problem. Infantino called it a democratic consultation process. It is a tender offer with a deadline.
The investor math is the part nobody is saying out loud. The $20 billion valuation assumes the World Cup as it exists, with Europe in it. Anyone wiring money into that raise is now buying a tournament that its champion, its finalists and two of its next hosts have publicly refused to play in. The asset changed materially between Tuesday’s announcement and Thursday’s call.
FIFA spent the week trying to sell the World Cup. UEFA spent one afternoon demonstrating who actually owns it.
One of the richest men in the world secretly bought every apartment in a Miami tower, one at a time. The residents had no idea it was him. And he didn't even want to live there.
Everything valid, until your very last sentence:
"Everything was going well..."
What do you mean "Everything was going well..." ??
It's very problematic when we (esp those who should know better) 'edit' and sanitise history in this way.
That all these southerners were born in Northern Nigeria does not in ANY way mean "everything was going well" -- and we should never ever try to recast history in this misleading way.
The ethnic (used to be called 'tribal') tensions of the 1950s and 1960s are a peak that we probably (and thankfully!) will never hit again. Go and look at the newspaper archives, and what our leading politicians said and thought of one another's politics. Accusations and counter-accusations of 'tribalism' were a defining feature of that era. That was the soil in which the descent into civil war was nurtured.
Even the deliberations and negotiations for Independence were clouded by ethnic agendas. It's all on record, has been written about. Many of the First Republic politicians were arguably more hardline in their ethnic suspicions (and agendas) than today's politicians.
How can you say of that period that "Everything was going well?"
Have we completely lost touch with a history that's not even a century old yet??
