Happy Birthday Tommy !! Miss you everyday. For my 9th birthday in 2011 I wanted to go to spring training, and that’s where I got to meet Tommy. @Dodgers
@PaytonBecker7 Depending on your target audiences and who you want to reach I would suggest using different platforms. For a younger audience tik tok and Instagram seems more effective. For an older audience Facebook may be more effective. #UWJ201 #310
@jakedicker I receive ads through social media and when I make google searches that are tailored to me likings constantly. My shopping is dictated by these ads because they are targeted ads that are similar to my previous purchases and searches.
Consumer attitudes and consumer behaviors tend to lack differentiation when talked about. Do you think that a consumers behaviors and decisions they make are based off of their attitude or that there attitude is formed because of other consumer’s behaviors? #UWJ201 #310
@evargold Before entertainment never included news and now entertainment is often a reaction to news. The platforms are changing and simply interact with one another more than they used to. #UWJ201 #310
@evargold I don’t think that I would say it’s becoming synonymous. I would describe the dynamic between entertainment, news, and social media as almost a dialogue. They are interacting much more than they used to.#UWJ201 #310
@hallzzzee There are a lot of factors that are up in the air. I think consumers benefit from ads but that is dependent on what the ad is for, how the consumer is receiving the ad, and if the ad is selling a product or an idea. With all these dependent variables it’s hard to say #UWJ201
@BellaDettlaff I find myself in very similar situations. Especially with Instagram ads because they are tailored to your interests. For instance, once I click on one ad for jeans the rest of the ads I receive are similar to the one I showed interest in. #UWJ201 #310
@elliemilius1 I think the topic of private universities being able to restrict freedom of speech is very controversial. Because students at public institutions have the right to freedom of speech. Although the first amendment protects private institutions, should they?#UWJ201 #310
#UWJ201 Social media is an outlet that allows users unfiltered communication within the limitations of their guidelines. Since they set their own guidelines they decide what gets covered. Do you think this and deplatforming leads to a biased media source?
@t8anderson99 I don’t think they’re in violation of the 1st Amendment because they are private companies and the 1st Amendment only restricts governmental power. I think deplatforming is effective and sets a necessary precedent. But often social media does abuse their power.
When talking about the spiral of silence theory, do you think that Trumps presidency was built upon the silence of what many assumed to be the majority? Did his presidency unsilence the minority voice that has always been there? #UWJ201 #310
In today’s lecture we discussed agenda setting. But is the agenda set by the public’s actions and the reality of what is actually going on in the world or is the agenda dictated by large media conglomerates that control what they prioritize as important? #UWJ201 #310
