@JacksonKin82532 Or...hear me out, they're drawing an apt comparison to the propaganda that brought in the Stormtroopers, to the wild propaganda the current administration is spouting about immigration.
ANDOR is without question to me the story of our time. It’s, sadly and urgently, the story of all time. But it’s the story of our time and if you’re not watching it because you think Star Wars is for kids/not for you then you’re missing something extremely vital and impactful.
In Andor s2, the empire:
- rounds up illegal immigrants
- commits environmentally destructive practices
- commits genocide with the front of fighting terrorism
- uses biased news outlets to sway public opinion
I hope we all think a lot about what this season is telling us
Well now that Syril’s story is over, Im left with one thought about his character. Syril at his core represents what toxic masculinity within the setting of a fascist society ultimately leads to. Pathetic men willing to die chasing their ego’s desires
@0wlAfter There's something like 10,000 known Jedi knights. It would make sense that 1-2% of them would survive. That's upwards of 200 Jedi. That's still a genocide of Jedi.
@1muralist1@SamCaudell I wish I could be this willfully ignorant lol. Life would be so easy. Anything that you don't like you can just make it seem like it's someone else doing it. Lmao
Remember in the Clone Wars series where they explore how the Clones aren’t just mindless soldiers but have different personalities and desires to be more human. There’s even an episode dedicated to a deserter Clone who left to start a family. Posting this for no reason.
@Neopaurario@ChrisFranzCCH @mikechenwriter Same. Been a fan my whole life. In my thirties. I'm not such a snowflake that the gender identity of a character offends me so much.
@Neopaurario@ChrisFranzCCH @mikechenwriter Then stop watching and trying to dictate how storytellers tell their stories. You obviously don't care and do not dictate who can and can't be in star wars.
@Neopaurario@ChrisFranzCCH @mikechenwriter Says who? Why does the identity of the characters matter? What does it take away from any story? Did Luke being cishet have literally any impact on the original trilogy?
@Neopaurario@ChrisFranzCCH @mikechenwriter You're wrong. Transgender people have existed for a very very long time across many different societies.
Even if it was new (again, its not), adding trans people into a story is not pandering. Youre just a transphobe.
@Neopaurario@ChrisFranzCCH @mikechenwriter How is it pandering? Can't we let creatives tell the stories they want to tell? What's the harm? Trans people exist in this world (which is not just a cultural trend). Why wouldn't they exist in a fictional universe with space wizards and flying starships?
@HoldFininity @ChrisFranzCCH @mikechenwriter Trans is "modern"? Maybe they're not trying to pander to new fans. Maybe they're just writing stories they want to write. They damn well know transphobes are going shit all over it. It's a background character with little-to-no consequence. It's not a big deal.
@Neopaurario@ChrisFranzCCH @mikechenwriter Because the Galaxy is huge, there are millions of clone troopers who have shown to have their own personalities and interests. It makes sense.
Why not?
