On the midnight of August 4, 2019, eight million people were switched off.

For months, under the name of every Kashmiri contact on WhatsApp, the same words hung frozen: "last seen August 5."

Families outside Kashmir watched their mothers and brothers "leave" group chats they never chose to leave.

A two-minute phone call, timed by an official's watch, became the only way to tell your family you were alive.

That was not peace. That was silence. And Kashmir has been asked to live inside it for seven years.

No more.

On August 5, 2026, at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, we will do the simplest, most necessary, most constitutional thing a people can do: talk.

We are watching 2,500+ young men picked up in 24 hours under a phrase, "detained for questioning", that appears in no statute and carries no safeguard.

One of them had been demolished last year, rebuilt, and lived in for barely a few months.
