To add insult to injury, Southwest gave away my priority seat on my connecting flight. Why? Not because we landed late, because we landed on time. They gave my seat away because the first flight left late! How is this a real word scenario?

The people at the support desk defended the decision to take my seat, and told me their new policy’s are in keeping with industry standards.

There are many top flyers who need to book 48-72 hours in advance. I’ve had A-16 position almost exclusively for the past 5 years. Today, I narrowly avoided a middle seat. How can this possibly be a reward for frequent travel and loyalty? The playing field just got a lot more level.

@SouthwestAir I believe in giving the benefit of the doubt until things are proven. Day 1 of this new experience leaves a lot to be desired. I see the most frequent and loyal of southwest patrons experiencing a net negative result with this new process. I wonder how many other “A16’s” fall in the same category…typically booking ~48 hours in advance. I haven’t considered another airline in a long time, but this change seems to have leveled the playing field.

Today I flew on your new policy.

To say it was disappointing would be an understatement.

I get it, this is a big change and I’m sure it will get better but I guess my question is why should I fly Southwest at all moving forward?

You all are way smarter than me so I’m sure I’m missing how this benefits customers.

There used to be a clear differentiator between your offering and everyone else.

All of that has either gone away or is just simply pay for play.
