But looking back now, I realize Ellie never really had a choice. She had no say when Joel saved her, and no real choice when she went after revenge for him either.
Just finished episode one and it reminded me of all the things that frustrated me about Ellie in this story-how she never properly said goodbye to Joel, left Dina behind twice (even though I’m not a fan of Dina), and even threw away the guitar Joel gave her at the end.
All my recent worries were almost instantly dispelled by the sudden arrival of autumn. Temperature dropped a few degrees, sunlight changed its angle, and the paper tiger that existed only in concept disappeared. The worldly power is so weak in the face of nature.
