You can leave it to coldplay to produce the most beautiful ballads to exist 🥹 I knew the first time he sang this it would age like fine wine and it’s already doing that ♥️ beautiful beautiful song
There's been a lot of talk about Labour MPs sending their children to private schools after they successfully shut down over 100 in the last 2 yrs. But what about the cabinet ministers who benefited from private school education? Our Ang has the details:
I just want you to remember. That we live in a world where octopuses dream, otters have a favorite shell that they carry with them all their lives, cows have best friends, and bees have different "dialects" of dance depending on the region. Cats purr at a frequency that accelerates bone healing, the forest grows flowers first after a fire, and dolphins give each other names and respond to them. Penguins make proposals by giving each other the most beautiful pebble
“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.”

Today, on August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will take place.
The Moon's shadow will sweep across Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean, northern Spain and a small part of Portugal. In the path of totality, the Sun will be completely covered for up to about 2 minutes and 18 seconds. Much of Europe, parts of Canada, the northern United States and northwestern Africa will see a partial eclipse.
During totality the sky darkens, the temperature drops, and the Sun's corona becomes visible as a white glow around the black disk of the Moon. Outside the path of totality you will only see a partial covering of the Sun.
Safety is essential. Never look directly at the Sun without proper protection, even when it is only partially eclipsed. Use certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses or a solar filter specifically designed for viewing the Sun. Regular sunglasses, camera filters or smoked glass are not safe and can cause permanent eye damage. Only during the brief moments of totality (when the Sun is completely covered) is it safe to look with the naked eye. The moment the first bright bead of sunlight reappears, put your eclipse glasses back on immediately.
If you are not in the path of totality, the entire event must be viewed through proper solar filters. Enjoy the spectacle safely.
If anybody wants to know why Gen X is always mad, it's because they had to replace their record collections with a tape collection that they had to replace with a CD collection that they had to replace with an MP3 collection, and now they need a subscription to listen to music
@alexwel Thank you for sharing, it sounds wonderful! I’m in the Netherlands this summer but unfortunately there aren’t any shows then. Might have to pop back in October!
If you want to know why some people scrimp, save and go without in order to put their children into private school, feel free to watch the nauseating @bphillipsonMP exclaiming with glee the latest sats results (with lowered pass mark) which actually show more than 1/3 of our KS2 pupils fail to meet the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics.
Meanwhile the stats from a local inependent primary are 95% GPS, 100% Maths, 100% reading.
Over 40% at greater depth in reading and almost 50% in maths.
All at a school with over 25% SEND population.
Far from deriding independent schools and mockingly wearing her "spiteful class warrior" T-Shirt. She might consider getting off her arse, visiting some of these schools and seeing how we can replicate their performance in the state sector.
Celebrating 1/3 of our children falling short in primary education is pathetic.
Have you ever been lost or trying to follow directions while driving and you turned the music so you could “see better”. You’re not weird or crazy. You were wise to decrease your cognitive load so you could focus more clearly on the task at hand. Turning the music down didn’t help you “see better”. It allowed you to think better.
Now, think about all of the extraneous noise/stimuli in k-12 classrooms that embrace inquiry, centers, and projects. When students need to focus and think about hard things, they aren’t able to turn the volume down. Sure, some can block it out, but most are cognitively overloaded by it.
This isn’t a concept that requires a PhD to understand. Yet, schools persist with noisy, chaotic classrooms and wonder why students aren’t learning.
