there is something deeply human about feeling “survival stress” like when I had to venture into mountain lion territory late at night vs the artificiality of “fake stress” like when money is tight one week or my job is overwhelming. Puts a lot in perspective.
getting nostalgic again. I enjoy the trappings of modernity of course (especially medicine!) but it is deeply relaxing to have your only stressor being whether you can find a running water source to drink from and your only problem being the trail you’re hiking is covered in snow
