@DoctorTro Fabulous to hear physios incorporating nutrition into their practice. Here’s another article (by 2 physios) that might be a useful reference. https://t.co/O9GVSZerxE
@LSaugman we also specifically reviewed low carbohydrate diets for reduction in inflammation, and this review details which studies had associated weight loss https://t.co/Clk7a5FLYF
Low-carbohydrate and ketogenic diets: a scoping review of neurological and inflammatory outcomes in human studies and their relevance to chronic pain https://t.co/6qnRTdKBu8
@LSaugman we did a SR on diet (whole food, not supplements) for chronic pain a couple of years ago. Most didn't account for weight loss, and that plays a role (as a driver of metaflammation as well as increased joint load) https://t.co/Lmcuf0vKra
Our latest release from 'Low Carb Gold Coast 2022' - Dr. Sarah Hancock explains the benefits of low carb nutrition and less frequent eating in the prevention of dental caries #LowCarbGC@sjhancocknz

@ThomastheFlint @MaritKolby I’ve heard a few podcasts lately interviewing him. It would revolutionize mental health management to consider diet/metabolic health as a key player - just the same as it would for chronic pain management.
@ChristofferBN@MaritKolby We were limited in how many outcome measures we could do. We did self reported scales, but a bigger funded study would need more comprehensive measures
@ChristofferBN@MaritKolby and is supported by human ketogenic diet studies which show favourable nervous system outcomes and reduced inflammation – both relevant to the management of chronic pain. https://t.co/Clk7a5FLYF
@ChristofferBN@MaritKolby Both groups had a significant reduction in pain and there was not a significant difference between the groups. There was however a significant difference between groups on inflammation biomarkers, depression and anxiety scores and weight loss
@ChristofferBN@MaritKolby It also provides the first human data showing that a ketogenic diet can improve pain outcomes, which is underpinned by the preclinical data https://t.co/0OOoT7jCgF
@ChristofferBN@MaritKolby It lines up with our other paper that show improving the quality of the diet (regardless of the diet type) show pain improvements https://t.co/Lmcuf0vKra
Finally!! Our latest study is published. It is designed be a resource to develop low carb dietary plans that are nutrient sufficient.

@AJA_Cortes As a physio with a frozen shoulder for the last 6 months where nothing has improved my abduction/rotation range, trying this yesterday miraculously increased it to nearly normal. Unbelievable.
I can’t believe a person with LBP can be sent for so many scans. Scans, drugs, needles, Surgery. No understanding - no self management tools. Disabled and distressed. So much wasted $$ and Wasted years. It Sickens me. We can and must do better to support people in pain.
