We can't create something we do not know. Idea of a perfect world is an utopia, it can't exist. Any psychological recearch on animals demonstrates that large groups are inherently incapable of consistent, harmonious behavior, just as they cannot live under ideal conditions.

Hi vitalik, I'm mostly just referencing the ongoing conversation here. The unfortunate reality, in my opinion, is that the current state of the alignment industry, as an active effort, seems to be moving in a direction of closing down public/consumer access to actively participating in the effort by way of developing while the major companies are simultaneously selling versions of their AI systems that aid in the exact negative behaviors you're talking about, by being tools of war. I'm deeply concerned that by centralizing access to AI technologies, we are allowing things that aren't really safety concerns, like what is happening with the LLM psychosis discourse, be pushed as a safety issue and in doing so, are risking harming unique/fringe cultures and their values.

@SkyeSharkie But there’s a difference between using AI and defining what next-generation models are, how they’re trained, what values they encode, and what they’re capable of. That level of development still requires scale far beyond what individuals or small groups can realistically achieve.
